Presuming, he is a fairly smart person, then he will also realize he is getting old. His unconventional approach and his outsider status (e.g. he is not a lifelong career politician) has made him a welcome and intense political target for forces within and outside of government. His opponents in government and in the Dimocratic Party went even so far to perpetrate the by far biggest political scandal against him since Watergate and it is even much bigger than Watergate!
His role and enduring legacy would be to promote the next, most promising and best free market and individual liberty minded younger Republican to run for president in 2024.
Possibly, Trump may want to consider becoming a secretary in the next administration like treasury or foreign affairs.
Make no mistake, I think President Trump was probably the greatest president since President Reagan!
