About four individuals are presented. All of them poor and living in favelas. This is a a ridiculous, distorted, and ideology driven depiction of this vibrant city.

More than 50,000 killed in Gaza since Israel offensive began, Hamas-run ministry says. Really!

It is so shameful how often Western media regurgitate casualty figures released by Hamas without questioning!

There is little doubt in my mind that these Hamas provided figures are highly exaggerated! Second, it is Hamas who hides behind and blends with the civilian population thus committing serious war crimes!

Here is one example by BBC!

Notice that BBC does not even mention the official casualty numbers as provided by Israel.

"More than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed during Israel's military campaign in Gaza, the territory's Hamas-run health ministry has announced.

That number - 50,021 - equates to about 2.1% of the 2.3 million pre-war population of the territory, or around 1 in 46 people.

A total of 113,274 others had been injured in the same period, the health ministry said.

Figures from the Gaza Ministry of Health (MoH) have been widely used throughout the war and are seen as reliable by the United Nations (UN) and international institutions. But Israel has consistently disputed data published by Gaza's authorities.

International journalists, including the BBC, are blocked by Israel from entering Gaza independently, so are unable to verify figures from either side [laughable, as if to enter Gaza is the only way].

The figures released by the MoH for the number of people killed do not differentiate between civilians and fighters. ...

In January, The Lancet medical journal published a study which suggested the death toll could in fact be substantially higher than official figures reported by MoH - by up to 41% [really!]. ..."

The suspected UnitedHealthcare CEO killer supposedly carried a manifesto decrying the health care industry. Really!

Various Western media outlets in the US and Europe are trying very hard and repeatedly to stylize, defend, or propagandize the killing of the UnitedHealthcare CEO as some sort of a revenge killing or act for social injustice! This is outrageous!

There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for such a planned, heinous killing/assassination of this business leader! This young suspect is not a hero or some sort of a victim!!!

It almost appears these media outlets are promoting and fomenting horrendous crimes supposedly justified by some disparity or social inequity whatever that may mean!

Reportedly, the European Union tried to censor this interview!

Reportedly, Trump also addressed the unsustainable, reckless and irresponsible huge increase in government debt in the US. I have blogged about this glaring omission so far by Trump e.g. here.

Caveat: I did not watch this interview.

It is extremely disturbing that Western media report rarely or hidden or not at all that the terrorists in Gaza still launch rockets etc. from Gaza at Israel every day!

That many of these attacks do not cause or cause only minor Israeli casualties is no excuse!!!

Just read “Can Japan Recapture Its Solar Power?” written by a contributing editor of MIT Technology Review. Not only is the Scientific American, but also the IEEE Spectrum and here the MIT Technology Review left leaning and biased towards environmentalism.

A salient excerpt from the above article: “Overnight, Japan has become the world’s hottest solar market: in less than two years after Fukushima melted down, the country more than doubled its solar generating capacity. ”

The Gist Of The Article

It’s time for renewable energy (especially solar power) in Japan post Fukushima nuclear power plant accident according to the author. Mandated and guaranteed for 20 years high feed-in tariffs of 35 cents per kw are just right to bring this about. The author casts no doubt about this measure. On the contrary, he suggests that the nuclear power industry has for decades received unfair benefits.

The author argues for more competition and deregulation in the energy markets of Japan, which I support.

Renewable Energy And Natural Disasters

Has it ever occured to this author that renewable energy is as prone if not more so than nuclear power plants to enormous natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis, or volcanoes.

Does the author ever mention that solar power is not so environmentally friendly at all beginning with the production of photovoltaic cells?
