PragerU: Ulysses S. Grant: The General Who Saved the Union

Very recommendable! This Prager University video is definitely too short!

Remember: The American Civil War was totally unnecessary and unconstitutional. It was not about ending slavery, but preventing secession.

Refurbished US Grant Memorial Restores National Treasure, Reputation

Recommendable!

Notable excerpts (emphasis added):

1. “... Grant, who never drank during or near a battle, ultimately conquered his alcoholism through sheer power of will and with the support of friends and family. He later lent his support to temperance movements”
2. “Grant appointed some Cabinet members who proved to be corrupt, but Grant himself was never involved and was horrified to learn of their actions. His fault was that he trusted too much.” It is quite possible that Grant was a bit naive in some ways. His business/financial failures may also be a hint
3. “As president, Grant notably created the Justice Department to fight the KKK, helped shepherd the 15th Amendment giving blacks the right to vote, and then repeatedly deployed the Army to enforce those rights.” Quite remarkable and courageous!

Refurbished US Grant Memorial Restores National Treasure, Reputation: The recent restoration has restored the memorial to what it must have looked like when it was dedicated in 1922. It’s a fitting tribute.
