Minneapolis mayor’s Memorial Day speech began with George Floyd, not fallen troops

Who votes for such an utter fool! Appalling!

The man was a lifetime petty, convicted criminal and drug addict who reportedly swallowed something before his arrest to trigger an emergency!

"Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey used Memorial Day morning to post a lengthy tribute to George Floyd before later acknowledging America’s fallen service members only after being asked why his official account had prioritized Floyd over the federal holiday.

Frey posted at 9:03 a.m. Central Time Monday that Minneapolis was remembering Floyd, who died in police custody six years ago after then-officer Derek Chauvin restrained him with a knee on his neck.

“Today, we remember George Floyd, who was murdered [???]by a former Minneapolis police officer six years ago,” Frey wrote on X. “That moment changed our city forever.” ..."

Clearly, these two women were out there to provoke and harass law enforcement and to do video recordings perhaps even with a personal financial or fame motive.

Was it the police officer's body cam or his cell phone?

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey was upset about “the hate being directed at our trans community.”

The remarks by this Mayor are pathetic and disgusting given the mass shooting of children  committed by another, coward transgender killer!

So far, Minneapolis has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to replace streetlights after the copper wiring was stolen. The city has also been forced to replace 46 EV charging cords, which typically cost $1,000, bringing the city’s total to about $46,000 for 2023. ..."

An about 15 miles long light rail project will cost about $2.5 bn in the end after being budgeted for about $1.3 bn! It will have taken about 13 years to build when it is finally finished in about 2027 or almost 10 years behind schedule.

There were conflicts with existing infrastructure like railroad owned freight tracks. Then they decided to built a tunnel, which damaged nearby condominium buildings ...

I believe, this is not the first or only municipal light rail project where similar outrageous cost overruns etc. were reported.

Floyd family agrees to $27 million pretrial settlement with city of Minneapolis

This is absolutely insane and outrageous! What is going on in Minneapolis to pay out tens of millions of dollars on such settlements! Those Minneapolis officials who were responsible to agree with this settlement should be fired or recalled immediately! Not to wait for the outcome of the pending jury trial is irresponsible! This is a judicial farce, what a travesty of justice!

Despite reports of Mr. Floyd being agitated, resisted arrest and being under the influence of possibly multiple drugs and much more! I blogged here, here, and here about him. What if the pending jury trial acquits the police officers and puts the blame on George Floyd? This outrageous settlement will only negatively influence the jury members, who are already under tremendous pressure! 

This and other similar excessive settlements open the floodgates and will make our streets and our lives less save!
