Will New George Floyd Autopsy Evidence Bring Derek Chauvin Retrial?
Recommendable! What exactly did the lifetime career criminal and drug addict George Floyd die from? Was the police officer made a scapegoat?

Prager University: How to Make Our Cities Safer
Very recommendable! It is indeed very simple to keep the tiny minority of mostly very young violent criminals off the streets! Jail them immediately and for a long time preferably on first offense.

Minnesota Judges set record high rate of departures from prison sentences in 2021
Soft on crime in Western countries is a very serious and regrettable issue! More innocent citizens or businesses become victims of crime as a consequence!
This is a serious perversion of criminal justice!
I don't think the state of Minnesota is an exception, but at least one think tank located in this state investigates the issue of soft on crime persistently.
"... In 2021, Minnesota judges failed to sentence criminal defendants to prison in 46 percent of the cases in which a “presumptive” commitment to prison was recommended by the guidelines. This represents a new record high percentage of dispositional departures for the fourth consecutive year.
Particularly troubling is the case types that some of the highest departure rates came from — 2nd Degree Assault (shooting someone), Threats of Violence, Failure to Register as a Predatory Offender, Motor Vehicle Theft, Burglary, and Felony DWI — all well over 50 percent. ..."

The French Justice annuls the conviction for rape of a young man falsely accused 24 years ago
Another Me Too event! It is only the 12th time that the French Justice annuls a verdict since 1945. It took the French Justice only 5 years to correct the verdict!
In the battle of the sexes, men better watch out!
Can you believe it took the female accuser until 2017 to admit that this man did not rape her!!! The female was actually victim of repeated incest by her older brother. I do not know the statutes of limitations in France, but I suspect her brother will not be charged anymore!
"The French Justice has finally recognized that it was a mistake and annulled his sentence. He did so after the woman who accused him in 1998 recanted in a letter. This is the twelfth case recognized as a judicial error since 1945. ...
El-Haïry’s legal nightmare began when Julie D, a 15-year-old teenager, falsely accused him of raping and sexually assaulting her in Hazebrouck, northern France. This son of a Moroccan immigrant and a French woman was 17 years old at the time. ...
El-Haïry’s legal nightmare began when Julie D, a 15-year-old teenager, falsely accused him of raping and sexually assaulting her in Hazebrouck, northern France. This son of a Moroccan immigrant and a French woman was 17 years old at the time. ...
El-Haïry was sentenced in December 2003 to five years in prison, with four years and two months exempt from serving. He spent a year in provisional detention ... to later have to periodically go to register with the Gendarmerie and find himself included in the judicial file of perpetrators of sexual and violent offenses.
His accuser, Julie D., has remained silent for two decades, until in October 2017 she sent a letter to the Douai prosecutor. “I confess to having lied. Mr. Farid is not guilty of anything and he never committed acts of sexual assault or rape on me. The truth is this: between the ages of 8 and 12 I have been the victim of repeated incest by my older brother, “Julie explained in her letter, which she has now allowed to recognize the judicial error. ..."

Did the police officers in the George Floyd case get a fair trial? Likely not!
There is a strong hunch that the answer is no! It appears to be a miscarriage of justice in several respects!
Hopefully, the police officer's appeal will be handled more fairly!
"Derek Chauvin — the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in the death of George Floyd in May 2020 — has filed another brief in the appeal process.
The reply brief, filed by his attorneys on Friday, argues that Chauvin never had a chance to receive a fair trial for several reasons, including violent riots before and during the trial, endless negative media coverage, a lack of a "cooling period," and one supposedly activist juror who "lied" on his jury form. ..."
"... The filing also asserted that Chauvin’s trial violated the Constitution by failing to allow testimony that Morries Hall, a passenger in Floyd’s vehicle, believed Floyd “was under the influence of drugs at the time of his death.”
Hall did not testify during Floyd’s trial because he said he would incriminate himself if he took the stand. Chauvin’s attorneys say Hall’s beliefs could have been entered in other ways had the court declared him an unavailable witness. ..."

Special Prosecutor Releases Full Report on Investigation of Soros-Backed Prosecutor in Jussie Smollett Case
I guess, I missed those troubling aspects of this case before. Admittedly, I was not following this Smollett case very close anyway!
As a side note, the article below and my brief Google search for the special prosecutor's final report came up only with a PDF file that was poorly done. In both sources, the document was scanned as an image,so one can not easily copy and past text passages of interest! This is lousy!
However, this is schocking how blind justice was turned into racially motivated justice! When prosecutors follow political instructions, justice is denied!
"There was suspicion of political interference, after Tina Tchen, a former aide to First Lady Michelle Obama, reached out to the prosecution on behalf of the Smollett family. Judge Michael Toomin ordered a special prosecutor to intervene, both to take up the Smollett case and to investigate Foxx and her subordinates at the Cook County State Attorney’s Office.
Last year, a 12-page summary of the summary was released, in which Webb revealed that while there were abuses of discretion and possible ethical breaches by Foxx and her office, especially in misleading the public about key facts like Smollett’s past criminal record, there had been no criminal violations and Tchen’s intervention had not been decisive.
The full 60-page summary provides the evidentiary basis for the shorter 12-page version. It includes details of interviews with Foxx and Tchen, as well as others involved, and refers to text messages and other bases for the report’s conclusions. ...
The full report also provides further detail about Foxx’s false statements that Smollett had no prior criminal record — when, as the 12-page report said, “a prior misdemeanor conviction out of California from September 22, 2007 for DUI, driving without a license, and giving false information to the police, for which he was placed on 24 months of probation.” The full 60-page report adds that false statements about Smollett’s record were “particularly troubling” because his prior conviction “related, in part, to making a false statement to police,” and was therefore similar to the present case in Chicago. ..."
Some of the additional details include confirmation of earlier reports that Foxx’s office declined to notify Chicago Police Department Superintendent Eddie Johnson that it was dropping charges against Smollett. Johnson had been vocal in public about his disgust with Smollett’s evident attempt to fake a hate crime, wasting resources and diminishing real racism.

Hobby Lobby ordered to pay $220K to transgender employee the company barred from using women's bathroom
The seemingly insane world we live in now! Human rights acts are very expansively interpreted possibly going far beyond the lawmakers intent! Judges make a name for themselves by awarding the highest monetary award ever for emotional stress!
This happened in the state of Illinois where the self-educated Abraham Lincoln started his political career!
What is the solution going forward? A human of all or any gender still needs a bathroom! Single bathrooms for all genders with separate accommodations for different genders? Three bathrooms?
Why Hobby Lobby changed the personnel records to reflect the gender change was a huge mistake! Hopefully lessons learnt to other employers!
"... "Hobby Lobby changed Sommerville's personnel records and benefits information to reflect her female identity," wrote Illinois Second District Appellate Court Justice Mary Seminara-Schostok. "However, Hobby Lobby refused to allow Sommerville to use the women's bathroom at the store. ...
Hobby Lobby lost the lawsuit in 2019 and appealed to the appellate court.
On Friday that court affirmed the earlier decision that found the company was violating the Illinois Human Rights Act.
The three-justice panel said the $220,000 award was the highest ever for emotional distress. ..."

The Irresponsible Softness Of The German Criminal Justice System
Posted: 12/9/2018 Correction/Amendment: 1/15/2019
Today (12/9/2018), a German media article reported that two young men tried to incinerate a sleeping homeless man in the streets. Thanks to a courageous intervention by a woman while the crime was committed serious injury or worse was prevented.
According to the article, the police was able to apprehend the two perpetrators within hours after the crime. One of them had a previous criminal record of violent crimes according to police. These two perpetrators were immediately released again by the police.
This is just another of thousands of examples that the German criminal justice system has been for decades recklessly and irresponsibly lenient even with dangerous criminals!
If you want to find out why international comparisons of incarceration rates are so different or skewed between countries, especially between the U.S. and other OECD member countries, then this might be one answer.
One hopes that the woman who prevented this horrible crime will not become the next victim of these criminals!
