5th Circuit temporarily Halts 46th President-Era Mail-Order Abortion Drug Scheme

Good news! A win for the dignity and sanctity of human life, born and unborn! Who protects the unborn human being?

The supposedly, the senile, demented and pathological lying 46th President is a catholic!

Abortion is a very serious matter! There is generally little disagreement in cases of rape (other criminal acts) or incest to defend abortion or abortion immediately after conception.

Adoption is better than abortion!

Caveat: I did not read the ruling.

"In a significant victory for life and the rule of law, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit ruled today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration must reinstate the in-person dispensing requirement for the abortion drug mifepristone. The order halts a 2023 Biden administration policy that had opened the door for pro-abortion doctors and activists to mail high-risk chemical abortion drugs into pro-life states — including Arizona — in direct defiance of state law."

US Veterans Affairs ends nearly all abortion procedures at VA medical centers

Was offering abortion procedures in the US military ever necessary?

"... Between September 2022 and August 2025, the VA had covered or provided abortions to roughly 100 veterans and 40 CHAMPVA patients, according to data provided by the VA. ..."

Pro abortion advocates find videos of fetuses growing in the womb shown to highschool students as part of sex ed offensive. Really!

Is there something wrong with that? Should these kind of videos not be shown in biology classes anyway?

How a fetus develops in the womb of a woman or in other mammals is a wonder of nature!

Why not show some videos on how brutal some abortions are especially late term abortions!

Abortion is no panacea. It should be avoided as much as possible! It is a terrible form of ending a human life!

"A growing number of American students taking sex education classes this fall will be required to watch videos of fetuses growing in the womb—a result of new “fetal development” laws passed in state legislatures nationwide.

Six states now require such videos to be shown in sex ed; nearly 4 million students will see them this fall

20+ states have proposed similar bills since 2023.

Background: Showing such videos in schools is a key part of anti-abortion group Live Action’s strategy to influence young people
Its main tool: “Meet Baby Olivia,” a 3-minute video depicting the development of a fetus in utero, which has been frequently recommended in state legislation.

But medical experts say the video is misleading about development and is emotionally manipulative rather than educational [???]. ..."

More than 80% of gynecologists in Sicily refuse to perform abortions for moral and religious reasons

Food for thought! Do we not all wish that doctors follow their consciousness unlike e.g. Dr. Mengele (pardon my extreme example)? Probably, it is a good idea to leave it to individual doctors to decide whether want to perform an abortion or not.

We want doctors to save lives and do no harm!

All human life begins at conception. Abortion is the killing of unborn life.

As a doctor, I would not be able to perform any abortions unless it was a rape, incest, the fetus is not viable, or the life of the pregnant woman/minor is in danger or other similar reasons.

"Abortion has been legal in Italy since 1978—but 80%+ of gynecologists in Sicily refuse to perform the procedure for moral or religious reasons

As of 2022, abortions were available in only about half of Sicily's hospitals, compared to 70% in central and northern Italy.

A new law seeks to open up more access to Sicilian women:
In May, Sicily’s regional council passed a law requiring all public hospitals to establish dedicated abortion wards and hire staff willing to perform the procedure.
But staffing the wards may be difficult: Some doctors argue Sicily's hospital staff shortages and poor working conditions make it harder for gynecologists to provide abortions on top of other duties."

Roe v. Wade: The Battle over Abortion | 5-Minute Videos | PragerU

Very recommendable! Excellent video!
Explains the issues very well! Who protects the unborn human life? This can never be in the sole discretion of the pregnant woman except for rape, incest, or severe health risks for the pregnant woman.
I bet within the next 20-30 years or so, humans will be able to gestate babies outside the female uterus making pregnancies a thing of the past.

Sex-selective abortion has become much less common in recent years mostly in Asia

Good news! Hope and pray this horrible practice will soon completely vanish from earth!

Take the brutal and inhumane one child policy that the Communist Party of China imposed on its people from 1979-2015!

"Globally, among babies born in 2000, a staggering 1.6m girls were missing from the number you would expect, given the natural sex ratio at birth.
This year that number is likely to be 200,000—and it is still falling.

The fading of boy preference in regions where it was strongest has been astonishingly rapid. The natural ratio is about 105 boy babies for every 100 girls; because boys are slightly more likely to die young, this leads to rough parity at reproductive age.

The sex ratio at birth, once wildly skewed across Asia, has become more even. In China it fell from a peak of 117.8 boys per 100 girls in 2006 to 109.8 last year, and in India from 109.6 in 2010 to 106.8. In South Korea it is now completely back to normal, having been a shocking 115.7 in 1990. ..."

"The noxious practice of aborting girls simply for being girls has become dramatically less common. It first became widespread in the late 1980s, as cheap ultrasound machines made it easy to determine the sex of a fetus. Parents who were desperate for a boy but did not want a large family—or, in China, were not allowed one—started routinely terminating females. ..."

Study: 83 Percent Of ER Visits Due To Drug-Induced Abortions Miscoded As ’Miscarriages’ or 'spontaneous abortions'

If confirmed, then this is serious stuff! This is misleading! A manipulation of a critical statistics! This is about human life!

Caveat: I am not familiar with the study.

"... The study’s nine authors warn that more misclassification, often due to deliberate concealment of a drug-induced abortion, could deprive women of the emergent care they need for the serious adverse events linked to abortions, more specifically those involving mifepristone. ..."

From the abstract:
"Background:
Induced abortions via mifepristone and misoprostol (medical abortion) represented 63% of abortions in the United States in 2023. Women are consistently advised to conceal their recent abortion when visiting the Emergency Department (ED). Consequently, ED visits may be mistakenly attributed to a prior spontaneous abortion or miscarriage rather than induced abortion.

Objectives:
We sought to determine the period prevalence trajectory of these miscodes from 2004-2015 to 2016-2021. In addition, for the period 2016-2021, we sought to determine if there were differences in the severity or acuity of these miscoded visits compared to correctly classified post-abortion visits.

Methods:
We analyzed Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System Analytic Files (TAF) to identify 28,534 emergency department visits for all causes, and their level of acuity, following either a medical or surgical abortion within 30 days. For abortion-related visits, we determined whether the visits were miscoded as a spontaneous abortion or were correctly coded.

Results:
Between the two time periods, miscode period prevalence rates following medical abortion increased from 4.7% of total visits to 18.0%; and from 45.5% of abortion-related visits to 83.5%. Following surgical abortion, miscodes increased from 1.2% of all-cause visits to 7.7%; abortion-related miscodes increased from 26.8% to 73.9%. During the period 2016-2021, ED visits following medical abortion were more likely to be miscoded than visits following surgical abortion: for all-cause visits, OR 2.63, P<.001; for abortion-related visits, OR 1.79, P<.001. Miscoded ED visits had significantly higher acuity than correctly coded visits. For all-cause visits following medical abortion, OR 3.68, P<.001; for all-cause visits following surgical abortion, OR 3.39, P<.001. For abortion-related visits following medical abortion, OR 1.51, P=.006; for abortion-related visits following surgical abortion, OR 1.41, P=.03.

Discussion:
Coincident with the increasing dominance of medical abortion, there is a concurrent increase in the misattribution of post-induced abortion ED visits to a spontaneous abortion. High levels of visit acuity suggest that these miscodes represent a serious risk factor. Further, these miscodes mask and statistically deflate post-abortion complication rates and undermine both the science and medical management necessary to address these issues, representing a threat to effective surveillance."

Shocking Data Suggests Abortion Pill cause 11% of women to experience serious adverse complications within 45 days of abortion

Bad news! I have little doubt that an abortion pill is no walk in a park! An abortion pill is a serious medical intervention and should be only used as a last resort and when medically necessary.

Almost 150,000 mifepristone abortions are prescribed per year! This is deeply shocking if confirmed!

"A study from the Ethics and Public Policy Center released on Monday found that [11] percent of women who had mifepristone abortions — the first drug used in a two-drug medication abortion regimen — experienced severe complications including sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or another serious adverse event within 45 days following the abortion. This percentage is significantly higher than the less than 0.5 percent in clinical trials reported on the FDA-approved drug label. ..."

"Summary
  • This largest-known study of the abortion pill is based on analysis of data from an all-payer insurance claims database that includes 865,727 prescribed mifepristone abortions from 2017 to 2023.
  • [11] percent of women experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or another serious adverse event within 45 days following a mifepristone abortion.
  • The real-world rate of serious adverse events following mifepristone abortions is at least 22 times as high as the summary figure of “less than 0.5 percent” in clinical trials reported on the drug label.
  • The FDA should immediately reinstate its earlier, stronger patient safety protocols to ensure physician responsibility for women who take mifepristone under their care, as well as mandate full reporting of its side effects.
  • The FDA should further investigate the harm mifepristone causes to women and, based on objective safety criteria, reconsider its approval altogether.

State lawmakers from about 11 states are weighing bills that would treat abortion as homicide

Food for thought!

The dignity and sanctity of human life, born or unborn! When does human life begin?

Abortion should be prevented as much as is possible (e.g. by contraceptives, abstinence), except for medical reasons, incest, or criminal sexual acts. Legal abortion should be limited to early pregnancy.

"Lawmakers in at least eight states are weighing bills that would treat abortion as a homicide, imposing criminal penalties on both providers and patients, once a Rubicon for the movement.

The bills, filed in Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina and Texas, stem from the Prenatal Equal Protection Act, model legislation crafted by the Texas-based advocacy group the Foundation to Abolish Abortion. Three similar bills were introduced in Indiana, North Dakota and Oklahoma but failed to pass in committee or on the floor of the legislature. ..."

A midwife and two of her staff are being investigated for illegal abortions in Texas

Chart of the day

Should abortion be allowed up the end of the second trimester? I don't think so!

A societal compromise of up to mid-pregnancy is perhaps acceptable!

P.S. Any pregnancy caused by rape, incest or when the life of the pregnant woman is in danger should be exempt from these restrictions on abortion.

Rubio Asked to Investigate Biden Admin Pushing unpopular Abortion on Sierra Leone

We are learning more about one of the worst 3-5 US Presidents ever, the senile, demented and corrupt 46th President! This pseudo catholic from Scranton, PA!

What a nasty intervention in an African country's domestic policies! A nice example of leftist/progressive colonialism!

"Sen. Jim Banks, R-Ind., sent a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio asking him to investigate reports that a foreign aid agency pushed abortion on a black-majority country under the Biden administration.

The letter cites The Daily Signal’s Dec. 16 report that the Biden administration was pressuring Sierra Leone to pass an unpopular pro-abortion bill before Donald Trump took office. ...

It is common knowledge among nongovernmental organizations, or NGOs, in Sierra Leone that a U.S. foreign aid agency called the Millennium Challenge Corporation is threatening to withhold hundreds of millions of dollars from a U.S. agreement with Sierra Leone unless the West African country’s parliament passes the bill decriminalizing abortion, a former senior U.S. government official who has worked in the West African region told The Daily Signal. Millennium Challenge Corporation denies this. ..."

Trump pardons anti-abortion activists who blockaded [abortion] clinic entrances. Really!

The first question that comes to mind is are abortion clinics really clinics?
No, they are not medical clinics as they intentionally end human life in violation of the Hippocratic Oath! Perhaps, these places should be called abortion facilities.

These protesters were indicted under what appears to be a very narrowly defined, extreme law, i.e. the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act of 1994 to exclusively protect places of abortion.

The violations by these protesters listed in the AP News article seem to be inflated or exaggerated! In particular, a woman with labor pains is mentioned. If a woman has labor pains should an abortion presumably this late, a late term abortion, be allowed? According to Google AI: "Labor pains usually start between 37 and 42 weeks of pregnancy."

The only significant fact named by the AP News article is that the leader of the protests had allegedly five fetuses in her home.

"The people pardoned were involved in the October 2020 invasion and blockade of a Washington clinic.

Lauren Handy was sentenced to nearly five years in prison for leading the blockade by directing blockaders to link themselves together with locks and chains to block the clinic’s doors.

A nurse sprained her ankle when one person pushed her while entering the clinic, and a woman was accosted by another blockader while having labor pains, prosecutors said. Police found five fetuses in Handy’s home after she was indicted. ...

protesters charged with violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act [FACE of 1994] ..."

P.S. So called abortion rights [to kill a human being] is one of the most horrifying euphemisms of our time right up there with e.g. euthanasia or gender affirming care! To allow restricted abortions is one of those necessary, but terrible political compromises. Contraception should be the rule and individual responsibility demands it!

Caveat: I am not familiar with these anti-abortion activities or the prosecutions that followed.

Every Senate Democrat Votes Against Protecting Babies Born Alive From Botched Abortion. Really!

This is very sad and disgusting, but typical for the Dimocratic Party!

Only brain dead and heartless dogmatists and fanatics fail to compromise on an obviously humanitarian issue like this!

Human life and dignity latest begins at conception!

This law seems to make a lot of common sense and is very reasonable!

Caveat: I am not familiar with the law. However, it seems there was no other objectionable content that Democratic Party representatives could disagree with.

"... Every Senate Democrat on Wednesday afternoon voted against protecting the lives of babies born alive after botched abortions.

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, introduced by Sens. James Lankford, R-Okla., and Jim Banks, R-Ind., states that a baby born alive from a failed abortion deserves the same protection and medical care as other newborns. ...

In 2023, House Democrats nearly unanimously voted against the bill. It passed the House 220-210, with one Democrat, Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, voting with Republicans in favor of the bill, and Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, D-Texas, voting present. ..."

Abortions survey says many women unprepared for the pain after medical abortion at home

An abortion is not a walk in the park as some may suggest!

It appears this study did not investigate whether the intensity of the pain was related to when during the pregnancy the medical abortion was performed. E.g. first three weeks vs. the last three weeks of the first 10 weeks.

"A British survey has found that many women choosing medical abortions at home are unprepared for the severity of the pain, having been told it would be no more painful than period cramps.

But the survey from the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) an independent healthcare and abortion advice charity, revealed more than 40% of women reported the pain score at 8 or higher out of 10.

The results of the surveyed are mirrored elsewhere, with an Australian sexual health researcher saying: “…it’s often perhaps the worst period pain they felt.”  ...

A medical abortion involves taking two pills, mifepristone and misoprostol, in the early weeks of pregnancy. In England and Wales, where the survey was based, nearly all such abortions are carried out at home. ...

About half (48.5%) of the respondents said that the pain they experienced was more than they expected. ..."

From the abstract:
"Objective
To explore experiences of pain during medical abortion and provide patient-centred recommendations for improving abortion experience and pain counselling.

Methods
We invited patients of British Pregnancy Advisory Service who underwent medical abortion up to 10 weeks’ gestation to participate in an online, English language questionnaire from November 2021 to March 2022. Participants answered questions about pain, method preference, abortion experience, advice, and how they would describe pain experienced to a friend. In this secondary analysis, we analysed free-text responses using reflexive thematic analysis techniques. We used descriptive statistics and parametric tests to analyse quantitative responses.

Results
Of 11 906 patients invited to participate, 1596 (13.4%) completed the questionnaire, including at least one free-text comment. Participants used a range of descriptors for medical abortion pain across three broad themes: pain severity, pain quality and comparisons to other reproductive pain. Some found the commonly used analogy to period pain misleading. Many felt unprepared for the level of pain they experienced, which they attributed to provider comparisons to period pain, as well as a lack of detailed, realistic anticipatory pain counselling. Qualitative and quantitative results suggest pain experiences impact method preference. Participants recommended better counselling for pain and abortion preparation, including first-hand accounts of medical abortion at home and a wide and accessible range of descriptions of pain.

Conclusions
Abortion providers should use patient-centred recommendations to better prepare patients for pain during medical abortion. Setting realistic expectations can improve abortion experience and support informed method choice. Further research is needed to develop and test patient-centred counselling materials."

Primary care physicians should receive abortion training. Really!

Of course, women are just people! Some doctors/professors are quacks!

Steinauer is an obstetrician/gynecologist and professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive sciences at UCSF."

Why the Dimocratic Party has chosen abortion as a major campaign issue for the 2024 elections is absurd

For example, the Arizona Republican candidate David Schweikert (U.S. House of Representatives) has been hit with a daily wave of advertisements claiming he is hardline anti abortion.

Since the 1960s, the controversial issues surrounding abortion have been settled in many Western countries on a widely accepted compromise. There is very little chance that we will see a return to pre 1960s rigorous legal treatment of abortion, which was essentially prohibition.

Only fringe politicians on both sides try to unsettle this societal compromise!

Footnote: The compromise includes e.g. abortions are allowed in cases of rape, incest, or when the life/health of the pregnant woman is in danger; first term abortions are more accepted than late term abortions. Effective contraceptives have become widely available.
