Amy Coney Barrett and her 7 children

Just learnt, probably for the first time, that this Justice on US Supreme Court has so many children!

The more children, the wiser her verdicts?

Amazing stuff!

Around 2020? (Source) No dwarfs? 😊

She also just published a book

Amy Coney Barrett and the Virtue of Self-Government

Very recommendable! Self government means foremost to govern oneself responsibly and charitably at all times in a society of free individuals! This is very tough to do as our daily experiences tell us!

"... I believe the most pressing problem in policy-making today, and the issue at the root of much of our political dysfunction, is that we’ve forsaken self-government—rule of, by, and for the people. ...
Self-government is indispensable, especially in a diverse nation of free-thinking people. It gives individuals a sense of agency in public life. It allows different communities to live differently, based on their particular histories and priorities. Since self-rule makes us masters of our own fates, our energies are directed to real problems and practical solutions instead of abstract concepts and conspiracy theories about distant, invisible forces. ...
But in recent decades a number of trends have undermined self-government. The judiciary has invented new rights under the Constitution and statutes and then used them to invalidate democratically produced policies. This devalues the will of the people in at least two ways: It disregards what voters and their representatives actually did when ratifying the Constitution or passing a law, and it reduces the space for today’s voters and representatives to govern. ...
This shifts policy-making from a transparent process of debate and compromise led by elected representatives in a legislature to a veiled process of applying “expertise” led by technocrats in agencies.
The list goes on: too many executive orders; too little actual work in Congress; too much deference to detached “data-based decision-making” and the nudging of behavioral science; legal theories that would lead to the invalidation of more laws or read partisan preferences into the Constitution. We are in an era when too many leaders and institutions show insufficient respect for self-government. ...
America must recover the connected beliefs that the most important societal decisions should be made by the people, that decentralized decision-making enables American pluralism to work, and that our Constitution assigns law-making (and therefore politics) to the legislative branch. Only then can citizens and their communities feel like they are in control ..."

There is also a good discussion of the Bostock 2020 U.S. Supreme Court decision. "Justice Samuel Alito denies the majority engaged in textualism. His dissent begins, “There is only one word for what the Court has done today: legislation.”

Amy Coney Barrett and the Virtue of Self-Government - The Dispatch Originalism's value isn't just in its dedication to old texts, but in how it honors the democratic will of the people.

Associate Justice Barett is in LOVE with the U.S. Constitution!

“I love the Constitution and the democratic republic that it establishes—and I will devote myself to preserving it,” Justice Barrett said in her remarks following her first swearing in ceremony on 10/26/2020 at the White House. These were probably her most personal words expressing her convictions of her entire remarks!

Does she love the Declaration of Independence and the Anti Federalists too? We will find out!

Let this love affair flourish and never end! Let freedom ring

All Democratic Senators Voted Against Barett As The Next U.S. Supreme Court Justice

Absolutely shameful on part of the Dimocratic (not a spelling mistake) Party! What a scandal! There is no other way to describe this! It is outrageous! This is such a display of dysfunctional and destructive behavior by these members of the Dimocratic Party! Totally Irresponsible! This is another bad omen!  Hopefully, the American voters and citizens will finally realize where the Dimocratic Party is going and vote accordingly! Will better leaders in this party please rise up!

All 45 Dimocratic Senators and two independents who caucus with the Democrats voted against Barrett's confirmation.

This is Marxist-Leninist party discipline! Horrible! This is not acceptable and totally unamerican! No dimocratic U.S. Senator can justify this in good conscious!

However, it is no surprise: Almost all Dimocratic U.S. Senators (43 of them) voted nay in 2017 on Barret for U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (source). Only Tim Kaine (D, Virginia), Joe Donnelly (D, Indiana) voted for her. Claire McCaskill (D, Missouri) casted no vote.

I have to admit that I am not familiar whether Republican Senators have not engaged in similar voting behavior on previous U.S. Supreme Court nominees. However, even if they have, were those nominees equally qualified and beyond reasonable doubt about their non partisanship and neutrality. Late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (nominated by President Clinton) e.g. would be an interesting case to research. Here are the U.S. Senate votes for RGB: Only three U.S. Senators voted against her! 41 Republican Senators voted for her! What a stark difference! How times have changed for the worse!

Amy Coney Barrett Describes How George Floyd’s Death Affected Her Children

I think it is time for President Trump to withdraw the nomination of Barrett and/or for Republican U.S. Senators to vote no! I was utterly stunned she would repeat this propaganda of racism in the U.S. during her confirmation hearing!

"“I think it is an entirely uncontroversial and obvious statement, given as we just talked about the George Floyd video, that racism persists in our country,” the Supreme Court nominee said. “As to putting my finger on the nature of the problem, whether, as you say, it is outright or systemic racism, or how to tackle the issue of making it better, those things are policy questions.”"
Either she said this to please Dimocratic U.S. Senators or she means it! If she means it then she is terribly naive and poorly informed about this George Floyd case and other similar propaganda cases! Neither one is acceptable! I don't care how many black children she has she utterly disqualified herself with these statements!

Amy Coney Barrett: I pledge to be mindful of Ruth Bader Ginsburg's legacy

I do not know much about this judge, but I have my doubts she will turn out to be an intellectual heavy weight on the U.S. Supreme Court. Though one should never underestimate another person given such an opportunity to grow! She is maybe saving the best for last or for after she is confirmed.
