Britain has decarbonised enough (so have other Western countries)

Net zero is a terrible scam part of the global warming/climate change hoax!

Unfortunately, this article is way too long winded and contains a lot of story padding etc.! The author Kristian Niemietz, the Editorial Director and Head of Political Economy at the Institute of Economic Affairs included a long introduction about a special German words (he invented), i.e. Wutknopfargument.

They hate that argument like nothing else in the world. If they had to choose between stopping climate change, and stopping people from saying that Britain doesn’t contribute much to climate change, they wouldn’t undoubtedly choose the latter. ...

We are doing a huge amount on decarbonisation, we have been doing so for over thirty years, and we are unilaterally imposing a huge cost on ourselves.

Climate change entered mainstream political discourse in the 1990s, and climate policy discourse still reflects a 1990s world. Let’s take 1992, the year when the first international agreement on climate change was adopted, as a benchmark. In 1992, high-income countries still accounted for two thirds of the world’s carbon emissions. The US emitted twice as much CO2 as China; Germany emitted more than India and Pakistan taken together, and the UK emitted about as much as the whole of South America. Under those circumstances, it made sense for environmentalists in high-income countries to say: why don’t we take the first step? Why don’t we do this unilaterally at first?

And we have done precisely that. ... Since 1992, (what is now) the EU-27 has cut its carbon emissions by a third, and the UK by almost half. Global emissions, however, have almost doubled over the same period. Our relative contribution has therefore tumbled. The EU-27 now contributes less than 7 per cent to global emissions, and the UK, as mentioned, less than 1 per cent. China accounts for almost a third, and India for more than 8 per cent. ..."

Microsoft buys 3.6M metric tons of carbon removal from bioenergy plant. Really!

What a waste of money! Plant some more trees!

"Microsoft announced Thursday it would buy 3.6 million carbon removal credits from a biofuels plant in Louisiana owned by C2X. The plant, which is slated to begin operating in 2029, will process forestry waste into methanol, which can be used to power ships and planes and as a raw material for chemical manufacturing. Altogether, the facility will produce more than 500,000 metric tons of methanol. About 1 million metric tons of carbon dioxide will be captured and stored, likely underground. ..."

The Trump administration may cut funding for two major direct-air CO2 capture plants

Good news! Bravo! What a waste of taxpayers money and what a fools errand! Plant some trees please!

"The list features a "latest status" column, which includes the word "terminate" next to the roughly $50 million award amounts for each project. Those line up with the initial tranche of Department of Energy funding for each development. According to the original announcement in 2023, the projects could have received $500 million or more in total grants as they proceeded.

It’s not clear if the termination of the initial grants would mean the full funding would also be canceled. ..."

Official opening of the world's first industrial scale carbon capture and storage facility in Norway

Bad news! Obsession over the Global Warming hoax and Climate Change religion is good for some businesses!

Is carbon capture and storage (CCS) a waste of money? Most likely so and a huge one! Invest in nuclear fusion or hydrogen power please! However, it demonstrates that human ingenuity can remove any amount of CO2 from the atmosphere if really necessary (which is not the case)!

Again the German tree huggers and climate lunatics are behind this!

Carbon capture and storage – a pricey, problematic boondoggle

"... For decades, federal policymakers have poured billions into CCS, a technology that, despite its promise, has failed to deliver emissions reductions. Instead, as detailed in a study published by The Heartland Institute, CCS has become a textbook example of a government-backed boondoggle that burdens taxpayers and threatens private property rights while offering little in return. ...

In reality, CCS infrastructure poses significant public risks, because CO₂ pipelines are prone to leaks and ruptures due to the high pressures required to transport supercritical CO₂. A pipeline rupture in Mississippi in 2020 hospitalized dozens of residents, underscoring the dangers inherent in this technology. Storage sites also carry long-term risks of leakage, potentially contaminating groundwater or releasing sequestered CO₂ back into the atmosphere. ..."

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer wants carbon capture at a cost of £22billion. Really!

What a fool! What a waste of taxpayers money!

Antarctic Krill's are likely amongst the world’s most important carbon-storing organisms

Recommendable! This is only about the antarctic krill! What about the arctic krill?

We still know very little about the very complex natural phenomenon climate! Global Warming is a hoax and Climate Change is a religion! Climatology is more of a pseudoscience or nascent science then a mature  science.

"Antarctic krill are likely amongst the world’s most important carbon-storing organisms, according to a new study published in the influential Nature Communications journal. The findings, after a decade of research, have amazed the team behind the evaluation.

The researchers estimate that Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) annually lock at least 20 million tonnes of carbon into the deep ocean.

These estimates put krill on a par with key coastal habitats such as saltmarshes, mangroves, and seagrasses, which sequester 13, 24 and 44 million tonnes of carbon per year, respectively. These areas are increasingly being placed in conservation zones due to their role in greenhouse gas reduction and habitat survival. ..."

"The carbon sequestration potential of open-ocean pelagic ecosystems is vastly under-reported compared to coastal vegetation ‘blue carbon’ systems. Here we show that just a single pelagic harvested species, Antarctic krill, sequesters a similar amount of carbon through its sinking faecal pellets as marshes, mangroves and seagrass. Due to their massive population biomass, fast-sinking faecal pellets and the modest depths that pellets need to reach to achieve sequestration (mean is 381 m), Antarctic krill faecal pellets sequester 20 MtC per productive season (spring to early Autumn). This is equates USD$ 4 − 46 billion depending on the price of carbon, with krill pellet carbon stored for at least 100 years and with some reaching as far as the North Pacific. Antarctic krill are being impacted by rapid polar climate change and an expanding fishery, thus krill populations and their habitat warrant protection to preserve this valuable carbon sink."

Denmark moves forward with project to bulk store carbon dioxide in former undersea oil fields

Never underestimate the ambitions of small countries like Denmark! 😇

A proof of concept would be nice to demonstrate that humanity is capable of reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide at any time and any amount.

On the other hand, this project ought to be a reminder of the ingenious gentlemen Don Quixote attacking wind mills. Carbon dioxide is a life essential trace gas in the atmosphere contributing to the greening and generally beneficial warming of our planet.

Denmark reverses the direction of an oil rig for bulk carbon storage Denmark is moving forward with Project Greensands, an initiative that will take huge quantities of captured carbon out to an oil rig in the North Sea, and pump it down to sequester it in the sandstone formations that once held oil and gas.

Project Greensands will capture and liquefy industrial carbon emissions, then ship that carbon out to sea and pump it into old oil fields to refill them

The world’s largest atmospheric carbon dioxide removal project in Wyoming is coming

Why try to force expensive decarbonization of businesses when you can remove CO2 from the air? What is it now? Both?

Why waste so much taxpayers money on removing a life essential trace gas from the air? This is a boondoggle of gigantic proportions!

Plant more trees! This is much cheaper! Build more nuclear power plants etc.!

The world is witnessing the greatest scam of our time! Insanity combined with big business! Global Warming is a hoax and Climate Change is a religion!

University of California demonstrates "incredibly cheap and easy" carbon-capture material

Who needs so called and falsely advertised renewable/clean energy when you can simply capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere or convert carbon dioxide into biofuels, hydrogen etc. 

And remember Global Warming is a hoax and Climate Change is a religion!

"UC Berkeley chemists say they've created a simple, and very inexpensive way to capture carbon dioxide using a polymer called melamine, that's far cheaper than metal-organic frameworks. It could capture carbon emissions from smokestacks or tailpipes. ..."

"Carbon capture and sequestration reduces carbon dioxide emissions and is critical in accomplishing carbon neutrality targets. Here, we demonstrate new sustainable, solid-state, polyamine-appended, cyanuric acid–stabilized melamine nanoporous networks (MNNs) via dynamic combinatorial chemistry (DCC) at the kilogram scale toward effective and high-capacity carbon dioxide capture. Polyamine-appended MNNs reaction mechanisms with carbon dioxide were elucidated with double-level DCC where two-dimensional heteronuclear chemical shift correlation nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy was performed to demonstrate the interatomic interactions. We distinguished ammonium carbamate pairs and a mix of ammonium carbamate and carbamic acid during carbon dioxide chemisorption. The coordination of polyamine and cyanuric acid modification endows MNNs with high adsorption capacity (1.82 millimoles per gram at 1 bar), fast adsorption time (less than 1 minute), low price, and extraordinary stability to cycling by flue gas. This work creates a general industrialization method toward carbon dioxide capture via DCC atomic-level design strategies."

First industrial scale carbon capture plant opens in the UK

I think, this is a tremendous waste of taxpayers' money! However, this is certainly another approach to the alleged green house effect of the trace gas carbon dioxide!

Note that this plant is owned by a Tata Group of India! India, the new superpower of the Indo-Pacific region and beyond! 

So China sells windmills and solar power panels and India carbon capture technology to Western countries so they can live in their fantasy of zero carbon, while China and India continue to build large numbers of fossil fuel powered energy plants. Nice deal! Very clever! Or why is the West so stupid?

AI-Directed Algae Blooms Boost Biofuel Prospects

Good news! Very clever! Whether fossil or bio fuels, the age of carbon based energy is far from over!

As if we needed carbon capture for a trace gas in the atmosphere, but if it soothes climate change demagogues why not! This would be a nice carbon cycle in and out of the atmosphere.

Seit 2014 pumpt Island CO2, das bei seinem Erdwärmekraftwerk Hellisheidi anfällt, in vulkanisches Gestein, wo das Gas dann innert relativ kurzer Zeit selber zu Stein wird. Diese Methode liesse sich vielerorts in der Welt anwenden. Nun will man ihr zum Durchbruch verhelfen.

World’s biggest direct air carbon capture plant starts in Iceland

Would carbon capture not take care of the Global Warming hoax and Climate Climate religion!

Remember carbon dioxide is an essential and trace component of planet earth's atmosphere! Like oxygen, without carbon dioxide life, as we know it, is impossible! Vilifying carbon dioxide is ludicrous and absurd!

"The world's largest plant that sucks carbon dioxide directly from the air and deposits it underground is due to start operating on [9/8/2021], the company behind the nascent green technology said.
Swiss start-up Climeworks AG, which specialises in capturing carbon dioxide directly from the air, has partnered with Icelandic carbon storage firm Carbfix to develop a plant that sucks out up to 4,000 tons of CO2 per year."

Hope, Mr Musk will not be so narrowly focused with his generous donations to improve human progress!  His money would be wiser spent e.g. on more and better research into natural variations and cycles in earth's climate and how much the sun has anything to do with it.

Recent advances in carbon capture

Who needs expensive, unreliable and environmentally dangerous green energy (e.g. solar, wind) when you can recycle atmospheric carbon dioxide! Below are two recent articles describing recent progress in carbon capture technologies.

With human ingenuity it is possible to filter CO2 out of the air and turn it into e.g. fuel or other useful products (recycling of CO2). Don't give in to the Global Warming hoax and Climate Change fanaticism!
