Opinion: NATO states should abandon treaty banning the use of cluster munitions

Food for thought! Cluster bombs were certainly used in the still ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War!

Roman author Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus's tract Dē Rē Mīlitārī (fourth or fifth century AD):
Si vis pacem, para bellum (If you want peace, prepare for war).

"The recent geopolitical landscape, marked by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and return of great power competition, necessitates a reevaluation of NATO’s stance on cluster munitions.

Under the leadership of Jens Stoltenberg, NATO embraced the Convention on Cluster Munitions, or CMC, in 2008, which barred 124 member nations from stockpiling, using or manufacturing these weapons due to their indiscriminate nature and long-term humanitarian impact.
But the grinding continuation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, the largest European conflict since WWII, and the looming threat from a Russian and Chinese “friendship without limits” demands a strategic shift. ...
The defense of Europe in the face of Russian aggression requires a pragmatic approach that balances moral obligations with strategic necessities. The CMC, while noble in intent, has proven to be a strategic liability. ...
The CMC limits NATO capabilities while giving Russia time to build and maintain a defense industrial base that is already well ahead of Europe. The European defense industry has already struggled to produce conventional munitions and re-orienting toward cluster munition production too late could prove disastrous. ..."

U2 Shot Down over the USSR

Very recommendable! Funny, that the creator of this video uses feet as a measurement unit for the flight altitude of the U2 spy plane. How many thousand feet (it was just about 21 kilometers)? Ridiculous! When will the U.S. finally abandon the medieval measurement units (like feet, inches, pint etc.) and fully adopt the metric system! Will this happen in my lifetime?
Notice, the U2 plane lifted off from Pakistan of all places.

Will armored tanks meet the fate of armored knights?

Given what we have learnt so far about the Russo-Ukrainian war this is very likely. If a $50 dollar home made drone with explosive can easily destroy or cripple modern tanks, then the time for these expensive weapons are up.

Armored tanks were first deployed in World War I or more than 100 years ago!

Western governments should keep this in mind when considering the procurement of new weapons for their military defense forces. If they don't others (including enemies) will.

What do tanks and knight's armor have in common? A lot!

Both will be going or went the way of the dodo!

I am not sure what the future of tanks is? Most certainly their role and deployment since World War I will dramatically change given the very effective, advanced and sometimes cheap anti tank weapons available today!

Or they would have to be dramatically be redesigned etc.
