The Left Is Divided But Won

If you add up the election results for the three leftists parties of Germany, i.e. SPD, Die Linke, and Greens, they had a combined vote of 42.7%, while the conservative party (CDU)/CSU  received only  41.5%.

The challenger of chancellor Merkel remained ineffective and pale during the entire election campaign.

The Liberal Party Deserved To Be Voted Out

The German voters were tired of a liberal party, i.e. Freie Demokratische Partei (FDP), that now for over 20 years has a history of mediocre leadership. It is unbelievable that this important political party does not have more capable and competent top politicians than Guido Westerwelle, Roesler, or Bruederle.

Germany has too many so called Berufspolitiker (career politicians) that do not accomplish anything else in their lifetime but to play party politics like e.g. Mr. Westerwelle.

One can only hope that this party finally learnt the lesson. It would be of great benefit for Germany.

The German weekly magazine “Der Spiegel” reported today (in German language; 8/30/2013) that chancellor Merkel and the foreign minister Westerwelle declared that Germany would not participate in a military action against Syria. This is an irresponsible dereliction of duty.

Merkel is an awful opportunistic politician with an eye on the upcoming general elections in September. Westerwelle looks like a wimp and probably is a wimp.

The main contender of chancellor Merkel in the general elections, Mr. Peer Steinbrück of the Social Democrats (SPD) has been quoted as saying “100 Stunden Verhandlungen sind besser als eine Minute Schießen." (100 hours of negotiations are better than one minute of gun fire). The naiveté of this man is incredible!

Not only has Germany been disarming for decades in an irresponsible manner, its government thinks that diplomacy and negotiations are the prerogative.

A Country That Was Not Long Ago Liberated From A Bloody Dictator

A country like Germany has an obligation to humanity to do more in the face of dictators such as the one ruling over Syria. The Stalinist dictatorship in Syria has been running this country for about three decades now. Mr. Assad looks like psychopath to me. His father was at least smart and cunning.

This planet has become way too small to tolerate or allow ruthless dictators to use weapons prohibited under the Geneva Protocol (Syria is a signatory) to be indiscriminately applied against their own population.

On 6/22/2012, I received in my e-mail the weekly edition of “The Week In Germany”. This is an e-mail newsletter published by the German Federal Ministry headed by the hapless liberal democratic Guido Westerwelle.

The headline for this interview was “Germany is clearly ahead”.

Rifkin Is Full Of Praise For Germany

Of course, for the wrong reasons. In a separate blog, I have critiqued this gentleman and his Third Industrial Revolution. In my frank opinion, Mr. Rifkin is more like a modern charlatan.

In his first answer, Mr. Rifkin proudly tells the world that he discussed his Third Industrial Revolution with German Chancellor Merkel. How much was Chancellor Merkel actually influenced by him?

Why Is Germany Ahead According To Rifkin

Here is his outline of the future from this interview: “… We should stop any further investment in the old infrastructure, and instead develop a new one. … Fit out public and private buildings with combined heat and power units and solar panels! Convert street lighting to energy-saving LED lamps! The cost savings can be used to fund the investments. …Why shouldn’t German companies also be leaders in developing the electrical vehicles of the future?” And of course, he talked briefly about his “identified five pillars”.

Is he not a flatterer? German companies being leaders in the development of the electrical vehicles of the future?

To put it sarcastically and hyperbolically, he thinks a new infrastructure can be paid for by installing (my I add expensive) LED lamps? Who is he fooling?
