Tax Freedom Day 2025 in Austria

This a late Tax Freedom Day for the people of Austria! E.g.

Tax Freedom Day in Canada is usually in early June. In the US it is usually around mid-April (ironically, roughly coinciding with tax due date April 15).

Tax Freedom Day in Austria: 8/15/2023

15. August, das ist ziemlich bitter! Das die Österreicher sich das gefallen lassen.

"Der Tax Freedom Day fällt in Österreich im Jahr 2023 auf Dienstag, den 15. August.

Canadians Celebrate Tax Freedom Day on June 19, 2023

When is Tax Freedom Day in your country? Hopefully, much earlier!

TFD means Canadians had to work exclusively for the first full five month plus 19 days to pay for government expenses! The rest of the year, Canadian can finally enjoy their hard earned money however they want to spend it!

"In 2023, the average Canadian family will earn $140,106 in income and pay an estimated $64,610 in total taxes (46.1%)."

Happy Tax Freedom Day in the United Kingdom 2022

The situation is similar in other Western countries!

See on the chart below how the Tax Freedom Day moved up from early May in the mid 1990s.

"... Brits work 159 days of the year solely to pay taxes.
UK Taxpayers will fork out over £869.4bn to the Treasury this year, 43.29% of net national income. ..."

Happy Tax Freedom Day!

Steuerzahlergedenktag 2020: Neuer Feudalismus

Sehr Empfehlenswert!

Tax Freedom Day 2020 in the UK

I quote largely verbatim here:

"HAPPY TAX FREEDOM DAY

Well, sort of. Tax Freedom Day is that point in the year when you have paid all your taxes and at last start earning for yourself. This year, we had to work a gruelling 149 days for the tax authorities—from 1 January to 30 May! That’s nearly a full month more than we had to slave back in 1996. And some people might well ask what exactly all that extra effort has delivered us. But then we had Blair, Brown, ... Cameron, May...

Medieval serfs had it easy. They were only expected to work about a third of the year for their feudal lord. We have to work far longer for our government lords. No surprise that, according to our opinion survey (see ‘Lockdown hits young hardest’), people want lower taxes, especially younger people who are annoyed at being fleeced to pay for their parents’ generous benefits.

Where is tax heading? Well, the £300 billion or so spent on virus containment policies will take a lot of paying for. So Tax Freedom Day won’t be moving to January any time soon. But most of the cost will be met by borrowing (particularly now that the government has discovered people will pay money to lend to them—Ed.) Still, we can easily deal with that. We just leave the debt to our children... "

Tax Freedom Day: 5/19/2020 for Canada

Something to celebrate! Do you know your country's Tax Freedom Day?

It appears the calculation of tax freedom day by country is slow during the coronavirus pandemic. E.g. the Tax Foundation has not yet published the Tax Freedom Day 2020 for the U.S. (see here)
