What is it about Eastern European women that President Trump likes so much?

Only today I realized or my memory was refreshed that his first wife Ivana Trump was born in in 1922 in former Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic)! She is buried  at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster.

His current wife Melania Trump was born in 1970 in the former Socialist Republic of Slovenia, which was then part of Yugoslavia.

As a very young man, I once had a serious crush on a Polish female coworker of mine in Frankfurt am Main. I got to know her and her Polish friends quite well, but she was in a romantic relationship with a lucky man in Poland.

Poland makes firearms training mandatory for schoolchildren

Recommendable! Good idea! Poland is aiming at Putin the Terrible! The report said it was easier to get a gun license than a driver's license in Poland! How about a Second Amendment for the Polish Constitution?

Russian hackers Deploy New 'Kapeka' Backdoor in Eastern European Attacks

Bad news! How close is the enemy (or the megalomaniac and war criminal Putin the Terrible)

"A previously undocumented "flexible" backdoor called Kapeka has been "sporadically" observed in cyber attacks targeting Eastern Europe, including Estonia and Ukraine, since at least mid-2022.

The findings come from Finnish cybersecurity firm WithSecure, which attributed the malware to the Russia-linked advanced persistent threat (APT) group tracked as Sandworm (aka APT44 or Seashell Blizzard). Microsoft is tracking the same malware under the name KnuckleTouch. ...

The moral bankruptcy of German pacifism

Recommendable!

"... This belief, born of imperial Germany’s position between autocratic Russia and the liberal-democratic West, has given rise to all kinds of dangerous and irresponsible foreign-policy positions, from the 19th-century Drang nach Osten (‘drive to the East’) and vision of Mitteleuropa (German leadership of Central Europe) to Hitler’s search for Lebensraum (‘living space’) and West German chancellor Willy Brandt’s Ostpolitik (rapprochement with East Germany and the Soviet Union). Interestingly, Ukraine was often at the heart of these strategies.
In this context, to describe postwar Germany as ‘pacifist‘ is to choose the most charitable term. Others would attribute Germany’s foreign-policy stance not so much to a renunciation of militarism as to greed, opportunism and cynicism on the part of its business leaders and politicians. After all, among the strongest supporters of sending heavy armaments to Ukraine are the supposedly pacifist Greens. ...
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s statements and decisions since the start of Russia’s war have been nothing short of bizarre. ...
As such, Germany is heading for another grave historical humiliation for which it will spend years—if not decades—apologising and correcting itself. But no one will believe that it is truly sorry, especially not in Eastern Europe, which is Germany’s biggest economic partner. The central principle of Polish foreign policy is the so-called Giedroyc doctrine: Poland will not be independent without an independent Ukraine. This principle was formulated when postwar Poland shed its own imperial illusions and accepted its eastern borders without Vilnius and Lviv.
Unless Germany starts to act like its allies, a huge political breach in Europe is inevitable. ..."

Solve the Kosovo dispute to counter Chinese and Russian influence in Europe

Very recommendable! Not only Putin the Terrible, but also China are trying to establish and expand their sphere of influence in recently liberated eastern Europe! A grave concern!

"China and Russia have meanwhile fallen in line with Serbia. China has invested over $10 billion there over the last 10 years, trained Serbian police forces, and furnished Belgrade with surveillance technology. Russia has waged disinformation campaigns, funded Serbian nationalist groups, and armed the Serbian military. In October, it temporarily deployed its notorious NATO–killing S–400 missile systems there."

Solve the Kosovo dispute to counter Chinese and Russian influence in Europe | American Enterprise Institute - AEI: To roll back hostile influence in Europe, the West needs to bring the Kosovo dispute to a close.
