My perhaps wrong understanding is that this attack was carried out by members of the special operations deep inside Russia. If I remember correctly, some of these pipelines were even physically guarded on location by police officers/soldiers to prevent such sabotage acts.

Just watched this incredible documentary about this very courageous and beautiful woman Nancy Wake: Gestapo's Most Wanted (French Resistance Documentary) | Timeline from near Wellington, New Zealand.

She was a journalist; an ambulance driver; joined British special operations; fought alongside French resistance; she was the most wanted woman by the Nazis with a prize of 5 million francs on her head. James Bond would immediately blush!

She received some of the highest honors of France, the U.S, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand.

A breathtaking story. She is my hero! Why the heck is so little known about this absolutely stunning woman!
