UK approves regulations for gene-edited crops under Precision Breeding Act while EU struggles with outdated legislation

Good news! More good reasons in support of the Brexit in 2020!

The EU has become a Leviathan!

"The UK parliament has signed into law rules for its Precision Breeding Act (2023), bringing the sale of gene-edited products to consumers closer. However, the new law applies to England only.

Precision breeding refers to altering an animal’s or plant’s DNA using specialised enzymes to change its genome at specific points; the modification must be possible using traditional breeding to qualify. They do not apply in cases where genes are transferred from unrelated species – deemed genetically modified organisms (GMO). ...

The new rules make it easier for researchers to develop and commercialise genetically-edited plants. They should clear a path to crops with enhanced resistance to diseases and pests or greater resilience to drought or waterlogging. ..."

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer: No case for going back into EU

I think that says it all! The British people did the right thing with Brexit in 2020! The rest of the world ought to be very grateful for this great lesson in politics for the ages!

"Keir Starmer said there was ‘no case for going back into the EU – and that includes the single market and the customs union’. The Labour leader was forced to clarify his stance after remarks he made at a conference in Canada about not diverging from the bloc’s standards." (The Spectator)

"Sir Keir said the UK would not be "a rule-taker" under a Labour government." You got to love the British sense of independence!

Keir Starmer: No case for going back into EU - BBC News Sir Keir Starmer has insisted there is no case for rejoining the European Union, after the government accused him of wanting to reverse Brexit.

BRITAIN | Time to Rejoin Europe? Really!

Absolutely not you fool! Die EU has developed into a more and more centralized hegemon destroying federalism and applying more and more socialist central planning!

Latest European Union campaign: You are EU. Shocking!

Appalling! Disgusting! Dim witted! This is shameful environmentalism propaganda!

This EU website does not even bother to mention any dates or history or timeline etc. It is timeless! And it does not  provide background information!
So annoying! So pathetic!

The dangers of too much centralism in Europe become more visible and palpable by the day! Too much empire building!
The strength of Europe is federalism and variety!

When will the EU finally get rid of one of the vestiges of the awful German chancellor Merkel, i.e. Ursula von der Leyen?

In light of this, the Brexit makes so much more sense! Bravo and gratitude  to the British people!

By "Energy Independence" the EU almost exclusively means "renewable energy – made in Europe".

More: "Stand up for our values to protect ... the climate and the planet. ... 'You are EU' is an invitation for all Europeans ... building a better future with clean energy made in Europe. ... a statement that we can jointly move towards clean and homegrown energy. ..."

"solidarity is destiny" what a joke in this context! It is e.g. an insult to the Polish Solidarnosc movement!

"... we can prepare the world of tomorrow ..." What an arrogance! So much ignorance! Hope the rest of the world will say thanks, but not thanks!

CPTPP trade bloc to give U.K. green light to join

Good and big news! A follow up on the UK after Brexit!

The UK joins "Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam" (Source) Who needs the European Union if you can join the countries around the Pacific Ocean!

"The 11 members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership are expected to allow the U.K.'s accession to the free trade bloc this week, taking a step to expand the group to include a European nation.
This makes the U.K. the first nonfounding member welcomed into the CPTPP fold, demonstrating the allure of a grouping that spans the Asia-Pacific region. ..."

Brexit: Finanzplätze Schweiz und London wollen zusammenrücken

Gute Nachrichten!

Europe’s Top Central Banks Take Divergent Tracks as They Confront Inflation

Finally and several years too late Western central banks are reversing the reckless and irresponsible extremely loose monetary policy and extremely low interest rates since 2009! Public and private debt accumulation became too cheap since 2009.

Cheap money can lead to binge buying!

The advantages of Brexit!

"Europe’s foremost central banks took diverging policy paths a day after the Federal Reserve set the stage for rate rises in 2022, differing approaches that underscore the challenges for policy makers as they balance surging inflation and renewed risks to growth from the fast-spreading Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

The Bank of England became the first of the world’s major central banks to raise its benchmark interest rate since the pandemic began, while the European Central Bank said it would phase out an emergency bond-buying program while ramping up other stimulus measures to keep the 19-nation eurozone’s recovery on track. ..."

Why improving Vietnam–UK relations matters for the Indo-Pacific

Good news! Brexit keeps on giving!

"Vietnam’s prime minister, Pham Minh Chinh, made a very successful trip to the United Kingdom in early November, putting the rapidly improving relations between the two countries into the spotlight. The visit to the COP26 climate summit took place a year after Britain and Vietnam ‘refreshed’ their 10-year-old strategic partnership with a new set of bilateral commitments. ...
Though the growing relationship between the UK and Vietnam is broad and extensive, there are areas where security cooperation is desirable to both sides. In October, a British warship, HMS Richmond, conducted the Royal Navy’s first ‘passing exercise’ with a Vietnamese counterpart. ..."

Royal Dutch Shell decided to move its corporate headquarters and tax base to London from The Netherlands

This is big news! The Netherlands used to have a very business friendly reputation as a country! The Dutch have a reputation for being level headed when it comes to business.

"Royal Dutch Shell's decision to move its corporate headquarters and tax base to London may win over shareholders but it has struck a blow to Dutch prestige. read more

As the energy giant crosses the North Sea, it will shed "Royal Dutch" from its name, ending a link to the monarchy in the Netherlands that began when the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company was formed in 1890. ...
The Dutch government said it was "unpleasantly surprised" by the decision, as the country counts the cost of losing another Anglo-Dutch multinational to London after a similar move by consumer giant Unilever (ULVR.L) last year. ...
But it may raise other concerns about business in the Netherlands. Both Shell and Unilever had lobbied the Dutch government to scrap a dividend tax that Britain does not impose. ..."

Brexit: Why Britain Left the European Union with Nigel Farage

Very recommendable! A bit dated! However, Nigel Farage is one of the greatest living politicians of our time as far as Western Countries are concerned! He ranks up there with other luminaries like Lech Walesa of Poland or Margaret Thatcher!

The European Commission Search Engine: A Joke

This is what the EU Commission search engine looks like: Cumbersome, not intuitive, almost useless unless you are an EU bureaucrat (compare that to e.g. Google or Bing):

You wonder what they are hiding! Not to mention, when you visit the EU Commission website you are prompted like half a dozen times about cookies, data privacy etc.! Very annoying!

Is it so difficult and complicated to provide e.g. two options for the search engine interface: 1) A basic one similar to Google or Bing 2) A detailed one like the one shown on the scree print above

I wanted to search for a very recent competition infringement decision against several European and U.S. banks, but I had to give up here. Too much hassle! When I used the other general purpose search function on their website to look for Credit Suisse (one of the banks involved), the search results returned were totally useless. All of them were related to the country Switzerland instead of the bank! Such ineptitude is stunning!

Bravo Brexit and the British people!

UK Making the Most out of Brexit: Trade deals with 63 countries worth £885

Good news! "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves." (Source)

"... “Not only has the U.K. government publicly pledged that the country will be a ‘leading champion of global free trade,’ but it has followed through on that pledge, already securing trade deals worth £885 billion with 63 countries and the European Union, with more promised on the horizon.” That figure would account for nearly one-third of the entire GDP of the United Kingdom. ..."

London lockert Regulierung für Börsengänge

Good news!

Bislang dominiert New York diesen stark wachsenden Markt. London will nun mit liberalisierten Regeln mehr SPACs anziehen. ...
Vielmehr müsse London aufholen. ..."

Die Politische Ökonomie des Brexit: Ein Rückblick von Roland Vaubel

Sehr empfehlenswert!

I’M SICK OF TALKING! - Brexiteer orders Boris Johnson to walk away from EU talks now!

Indeed, Boris Johnson is very disappointing! Johnson fails to be one of the UK's great prime ministers like Margaret Thatcher!

"Former MEP and Brexiteer Ben Habib of Nigel Farage Brexit Party has told Prime Minister Boris Johnson to “walk away” from the trade talks with the EU in a fiery statement made in a recent interview."
