We don’t need deep-sea mining, or its environmental harms. Here’s why. Really!

A manifest of a bunch of nutty professors (globalism, environmentalism) in alarmism and hysteria! Of course, thes professors also exploit the indigenous people for their propaganda and demagoguery.

Finally, after several decades being fairly limited deep sea mining, humans will be able to do commercially viable deep sea mining on a larger scale with current, more advanced technologies like robotics.

Human ingenuity will provide the means to make deep sea mining as harmless as is possible.

Since about 1947, humans were able to drill for crude oil using offshore  drilling rigs without major, lasting environmental impact. Since then many such oil rigs came online.

"Deep-sea mining promises critical minerals for the energy transition without the problems of mining on land. It also promises to bring wealth to developing nations. But the evidence suggests these promises are false, and mining would harm the environment. ...

The best course of action is a ban on international seabed mining, building on the coalition for a moratorium. ..."

On the U.N. Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities COSP17

Is this another globalist, one size fits all and top down approach? I am afraid so! Another do gooders tyranny!

In general, it should be left to individual countries to decide how to deal with individuals with disabilities! The bottom up approach is much preferred!

"Today [6/11/2024] marks the start of the 17th Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, or COSP17—convening hundreds of people with disabilities, NGOs, and other advocates at UN headquarters in New York to promote disability rights. "

Governors, lawmakers and AGs team up to stop WHO from seizing more power over U.S. health decisions

Yes, the WHO is a prime example of the terrible and mistaken trend to globalization no matter what!

The West ought to be very careful to transfer more sovereignty/authority to unaccountable and unelected global organisations like the UN or WHO. Dictatorships and authoritarian regimes probably benefit more from it than Western democracies!

Devolution not remote concentration of political power!

"Republican governors, attorneys general and lawmakers are working together to create maximum pressure to stop the World Health Organization from seizing new powers to impose decisions on the United States and other member countries during future public health crises. ..."

The WHO isn’t perfect, but it needs more money and power, not less

Can you believe this is what the MIT Technology Review recommends! What a globalist nonsense!

This piece was written by Charles Kenny, Director of Technology and Development and Senior Fellow of the Center for Global Development!

The WHO isn’t perfect, but it needs more money and power, not less US President Donald Trump’s threats against the WHO are dangerously misguided.
