Trump Awards $10,000 Checks to Air Traffic Controllers and technicians Who Worked during government Shutdown

Good news! What a Christmas for these employees!

There are many ways for a US president to go down in history!

"Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is making good on President Donald Trump’s promise to give $10,000 bonuses to air traffic controllers who continued to show up to work during the 43-day government shutdown.

Duffy and Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Bryan Bedford will award 776 air traffic controllers and technicians a $10,000 award for their unpaid work during the shutdown. ..."

The import of the record long federal government shutdown

Probably, most Americans (except for federal employees) did not even notice, at least not until the very end when SNAP payments were at risk and some domestic flights were cancelled!

This was a great and rare social experiment at scale!

President Trump and the GOP would be well advised to take this opportunity to massively downsize the federal government. Thereby, also significantly reducing the unsustainable accumulated federal government debt and annual federal government deficits.

Never let a crisis go to waste! as Rahm Emanuel (Former White House Chief of Staff of President Obama and more recently Ambassador to Japan) used to famously say.

Government shutdown second-longest in history

I bet, President Trump would not mind to break this record! 😊 The federal government seems to work fine in shutdown mode is my impression!

President Trump is breaking the longest government shutdown records

Does anybody notice that the federal government is shutdown now for 17 days despite the fact that there is also no federal budget?

Here is what Google said:
"No, the ongoing government shutdown, which began on October 1, 2025, is not the longest in history. As of October 17, 2025, it is the third-longest funding lapse in modern U.S. history.

The longest government shutdowns on record are:

  1. 1st longest: The 2018–2019 shutdown, which occurred under President Donald Trump, lasted 35 days.
  2. 2nd longest: The 1995–1996 shutdown, under former President Bill Clinton, lasted 21 days.
  3. 3rd longest: The current 2025 shutdown has now surpassed the 2013 shutdown under former President Barack Obama, which lasted 16 days.

Mr House Speaker Boehner Please Step Down!

Sunny Boy

The whole world seems enchanted with your impeccable daily sun tan, but this is not good enough!

Get Out Of The Kitchen

Your latest cave in on the federal debt ceiling is enough for you to consider to get out of the kitchen since you cannot handle the heat!

Opportunistic election year calculations are a bad habit of too many politicians!

Who Needs The Federal Government?

If the President and the majority leader of the U.S. Senate are still unwilling to compromise in order to reduce the debt and outlandish federal expenditures then another government shutdown is not such a bad thing to happen.
The U.S. can live very well without a big federal government!

Thank you for listening!
