Pentagon identifies two American soldiers killed in Iranian attack in Jordan

Among them a very young woman and soldier!

Welcome to the age of gender equality! Pardon my sarcasm in this case! But in future wars we will probably see more war casualties among female soldiers.

"... The active-duty soldiers were killed during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan. ..."

Denmark begins extended military conscription including women to protect Greenland

Good news! The government of Denmark does not want to sell Greenland to President Trump! 😊

At least one Western country that takes gender equality seriously when it comes to conscription!

"... Denmark said in 2024 it would extend conscription to include women for the first time and increase standard service time to 11 months from four, while the number of conscripts is set to increase to 7,500 annually by 2033 from 5,000. ...

The new intake arrives as Denmark prepares to deploy conscripts to Greenland for the first time later this month, with a company of more than 100 soldiers set to serve for one month, taking over operational tasks from professional troops. ..."

Denmark begins extended military conscription in response to Russia, Trump "Around 1,600 Danish military recruits on Monday began the country’s new extended conscription, embarking on an 11-month service period as Denmark accelerates its defense build-up driven by Arctic security pressures and the war in Ukraine."

Good news! Bravo!

This is old news, but I was not able to blog about it earlier thanks to the Great Firewall of China.

US Department of Defense/War launches review of ‘effectiveness’ of women in ground combat roles over the last 10 years

The US does not need woke soldiers nor DEI soldiers! A dangerous proposition! A deadly mistake! It also undermines confidence and cohesion among the soldiers.

E.g. how much were standards lowered to accommodate more women?

However, I bet female soldiers can do a great job in ground combat roles if they are given a fair chance! Maybe special combat roles for women can be developed etc.

"The Pentagon has launched a formal review of the “effectiveness” of women in ground-combat positions, nearly a decade after the Department of Defense ended a ban that had excluded them from front-line infantry, armor and artillery units.

The six-month assessment, first reported by NPR on Tuesday, will require Army and Marine Corp leaders to submit data on readiness, training, performance, casualties and command climate of ground combat units and personnel, according to a December memo sent by Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel Anthony Tata. Pentagon officials cast the move as a way to gauge “the operational effectiveness of ground combat” units and examine how women have integrated into combat roles over the last ten years. ..."

What difference can female Ukrainian soldiers make on Ukraine's battlefields?

Recommendable! There are 70,000 female soldiers of which about 5,000 are on the front line. The two interviewed cute sisters were saying e.g. they want to look pretty in battle with cosmetics.

Women Do Not Belong in Combat Roles of the military | PragerU. Really!

I disagree! The lady in this video did not even mention the separation of uniformed men and women in the military. She spoke only about mixed units for which her arguments make some sense.
Anyone, who is serious about gender equality can not deny combat roles for women.
There are also plenty of examples of fierce, fighting women in history. Pirates, guerillas, warriors and so on. How about e.g. the famous Joan of Arc!

At least one US air force woman served as a B-2 bomber pilot during the mission on Iran's Nuclear Facilities

Good news in the age of gender equality!

The Islamist fanatics in Iran were whipped by unveiled women soldiers wearing helmets instead of hijabs! 😊 Poetic justice for Mahsa Amini!

I recently blogged here about Israeli female air force pilots participating in the Rising Lion mission against Iran.

"... But female troops also played key roles in the Iran strikes. "Women were incorporated in all aspects of the mission," a U.S. official told Military.com on Monday on condition of anonymity to discuss details of the operation.

At least one woman served as a B-2 bomber pilot during the mission, that official said. Another official confirmed women were on a guided missile submarine crew that launched more than two dozen cruise missiles at the Iranian nuclear sites. ..."

Israel Air Force Female Fighter Pilots (perhaps including F-35 aircraft) and Navigators participate in airstrikes on Iran

Good news! Bravo! Long overdue in the age of gender equality!

Unfortunately, this blog post by Times of Israel does not provide any details on how many female IDF Air Force pilots, navigators and so forth were participating in the “Operation Rising Lion.”.

P.S. I blogged here yesterday about this subject in German.

"An Israeli Air Force female combat navigator,  Major “Shin” took part in this weekend’s unprecedented airstrikes on Iran in “Operation Rising Lion.” ...

In addition to combat (including F35) and transportation pilots, the IAF has female navigators, combat helicopter pilots and Saar helicopter pilots.  Advanced Air Force training courses (of which around 600 cadets enter and only about thirty graduate) last three years and require soldiers to give an additional nine years of service. ...

More than 70 years have passed since a woman first completed the IAF’s pilot training course. Lieutenant Yael Rom marched amongst the 18 officers completing Pilot Training Course number 5 and was the first woman to pin on the IAF pilot wings to her uniform and served in combat in the 1956 war.

After this long hiatus women were once again granted permission to enter the air combat training school after a ruling by the Israeli Supreme Court in 1997, based on an appeal by Alice Miller, a South African immigrant with a civilian pilots license, to enter the prestigious course. Miller’s appeal was based on Israel’s Declaration of Independence, which states:

The State of Israel… will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex" ...

The first woman to qualify as a combat pilot after the Supreme Court ruling, Lt. R. in 2001, had to complete the rigorous course that is regarded as the toughest of its kind in the world. It cost almost three million dollars to train an IAF pilot and there is above a ninety percent drop-out rate. She not only completed the course but excelled: she finished sixth in her class of 70 and during dogfight training she is said to have “downed” even her squadron commander! Interestingly, she was raised in Kibbutz Lochamei Hagetaot (The Ghetto fighters Kibbutz) and her grandparents were both leaders of the Warsaw Ghetto revolt. ..."

Heldinnen des Tages: Israels Kampfpilotinnen im Einsatz gegen Iran

Sehr empfehlenswert!

Female Combat Medic and mother of a fallen son Destroys Russian Assault Group, Awarded for Heroism

Headline of the day! What a heroine!

"Combat medic Svitlana from the 128th Territorial Defense Brigade, currently deployed in the Zaporizhzhia area, saved her fellow soldiers from an attempted enemy encirclement. Spotting the threat, she grabbed a grenade launcher and, with a precise shot, eliminated a group of advancing Russian troops, according to a statement from Ukraine’s General Staff on Monday, May 12.

Svitlana who before the war was a highly experienced intensive care nurse at the Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipro, volunteered for Ukraine’s Territorial Defense Forces at the start of the 2022 full-scale invasion,. ...

Svitlana’s son, also a volunteer, was killed in fighting near Bakhmut."

Soldier becomes first woman to compete in Best Ranger Competition. She and her male teammate came in 14th!

Good news! Bravo!

Her white, male teammate is to be congratulated! Like a chivalrous knight in the 21st century!

"A female Army Ranger for the first time competed in the annual Best Ranger Competition, and her two-soldier team finished the grueling three-day event over the weekend and came in 14th overall.

First Lt. Gabrielle White, and her teammate, Capt. Seth Deltenre, were among the 16 teams that made it through the final events, where Ranger teams compete for accolades as the best of the elite military force. All together, 52 teams competed and all of the others were made up of only male soldiers. ..."

Very recommendable! According to Google AI search about 35% of all soldiers in the Australian navy are women. I was surprised how many female soldiers showed up in this short video. Bravo gender equality!

‘I stopped counting after three’: the girl sniper fighting on the front line of Myanmar’s civil war

Bad news! Child soldiers??? Horrific!

‘I stopped counting after three’: the ‘girl sniper’ fighting on the frontline of Myanmar’s civil war | Global development | The Guardian "The country’s drawn out conflict has seen children recruited as soldiers on all sides. At the age of 18, Anina is a seasoned fighter with a feared reputation in her all-male resistance unit"

DC crash: Durham woman part of Black Hawk crew killed in midair collision

Disappointing! Nothing about the other crew members! Nothing about her qualification as a helicopter pilot or how many hours she has flown etc.! Was she a DEI first?
