Emigration from Israel continues at peak levels at 270,000 from 2023-2025

Bad news! How serious is this trend?

However, the criterion of leaving for at least three months or more might be flawed:
  • What about the intention for leaving?
  • What about the prospect of returning after three or more months? (see also 2nd chart below)

"... In previous years [before 2023], the number of Israelis who left the country according to this criterion (three months or more) was 30% lower, and averaged just 60,000 annually in 2010-2019. In 2024-2025, Israel had a negative migration balance for the first time in decades, that is to say, more people left than arrived. ...

The new study from Tel Aviv University and the Central Bureau of Statistics does not cover net migration as there are not yet enough data to examine this statistic for 2025. Data on the number of Israelis who left for twelve months or more, as measured by the group in previous studies ..."

"Not only has the number of Israelis emigrating from Israel increased in recent years, but their economic profile has also changed.
More high-income earners, tech employees, healthcare professionals, and people in the prime of their careers are moving abroad. This is according to a new study by the Israel Tax Authority’s Planning and Economics Division, which examined the income and tax payments of Israelis who emigrated from the country between 2015 and 2024. ..."

Emigration from Israel continues at peak levels - study - Globes "Analysis of Central Bureau of Statistics data by Tel Aviv University researchers finds that 90,922 people left Israel in 2025, similar to the numbers for 2024 and 2023."

Emigration from Israel Remains at Record Levels, New TAU Study Finds "Nearly 270,000 Israelis left the country over the past three years, as researchers warn the trend could have long-term economic and security implications."

Tax Authority warns higher income Israelis are leaving "A Tax Authority study indicates that not only did more Israelis leave the country in 2023 and 2024 but that they had a higher income than those emigrating in previous years."

Was ist dran?

Man möchte weg. Nur weg. Eine Besserung wird nicht mehr erwartet.

Besonders schlimm: Es sind die unter 40-Jährigen. 37 Prozent wollen auswandern. ...

Why So Many Young People are Leaving Italy

Mostly recommendable! The lack of a minimum wage in Italy is certainly one of the weakest if not wrong arguments provided!
Serious stuff for Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to deal with!

War tensions accelerate Israel's Arab brain drain

Bad news! It appears the article is more about alarmism and hysteria or attention grabbing.

Plus, the article seems to have woke perspective given some of the examples presented.

The article does not mention or omitted whether any high profile scientists are leaving.

"... According to the Israel Democracy Institute, at the start of the war, only 59% of Israeli Arabs (compared to 80% of Jews) said they preferred to remain in Israel - the lowest figure recorded in the past decade. Although this figure rose to 70% in October 2024 (matching the Jewish population), it remains significantly lower in the Arab community compared to previous periods ...

The Arab community’s sense of insecurity is also linked to rising crime rates. Over the past five years, crime in Arab society has surged, with each year seeing more victims than the previous one. At the beginning of this month, six people were murdered in a single day. Since the start of the year, 35 Arab citizens have been murdered (as of February 19), including two women - compared with 21 in the same period the previous year. 28 of the 2025 victims were shot to death, of which 15 were under 30 years of age, according to non-profit organization The Abraham Initiatives. The Bureau for Combating Crime and Violence in Arab Society in the Prime Minister's Office analyzed the 2024 cases and found that 85% of the cases remain unsolved. ..."

War tensions accelerate Israel's Arab brain drain - Globes "Since October 7th, discrimination and alienation are driving more and more Israeli Arabs to emigrate. "Globes" talks to some who have decided to leave."

Wealth migration 2024: China to see biggest millionaire exodus in 2024 as many head to U.S. The UK is second, India 3rd

Bad news for China!

They say money talks! A case of voting by feet!

"China saw the world's biggest outflow of high-net-worth individuals last year and is expected to see a record exodus of 15,200 in 2024, dealing a further blow to its economy, a new report says.

Uncertainty over China's economic trajectory and geopolitical tensions are top of mind for many Chinese millionaires, in dollar terms, who choose to leave their country, according to the report by investment migration firm Henley & Partners. The U.S., China's international archrival, stands out as the top destination, according to the researchers.

China last year saw 13,800 high-net-worth individuals depart, mostly to the U.S., Canada and Singapore, the firm found. Such individuals, abbreviated as HNWIs, are defined as those with at least $1 million in assets. ..."

"... China is again on track to be the biggest millionaire loser globally, with an anticipated net exit of 15,200 HNWIs this year (compared to 13,800 in 2023) whereas India has stemmed its wealth exodus, dropping down to 3rd place after the UK with just 4,300 millionaires projected to leave the country in 2024 (compared to 5,100 last year). South Korea’s HNWI flight is expected to rise with a forecast loss of 1,200 millionaires (compared to 800 in 2023) while the tsunami of millionaires that fled Russia following the outbreak of the Ukraine war appears to be abating with only 1,000 projected to relocate this year (compared to 8,500 in 2022 and 2,800 in 2023). ...
With its zero income tax, golden visas, luxury lifestyle, and strategic location, the UAE has entrenched itself as the world’s number one destination for migrating millionaires and is poised to welcome a record net inflow of 6,700 this year alone. ..."

To put this a little bit into perspective:
"The UK is expected to see an unprecedented net loss of 9,500 millionaires in 2024 — second only to China"

Emigration of trained Cameroon health care workers to Canada exacerbates Inequality. Really!

The brain drain from developing to developed countries is not a new phenomenon! It is several decades old if not a century or more.

Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health phrased this as: Health Worker Exodus [???] Exacerbates Inequality [???]. Really! What a foolish, narrow minded opinion!

Not mentioned in this lousy article:
  1. Regularly significant remittances and all the benefits that come with it
  2. Does e.g. Cameroon train more medical staff than needed domestically?
  3. When do these emigrants typically return to Cameroon or other countries of Africa?
"... One pipeline: Cameroon to Canada. About a third of last year's medical graduates from Cameroon have already left the country for higher-paying jobs in North America and Europe. ..."

Iranian Medical Council Warns Of Pediatric Heart specialists and Surgeons' Emigration

Sure, it would be better if the hardline mullahs and the dictator of Iran would emigrate! 😊

This is not the only brain drain Iran has suffered since the beginning of theocracy in 1979!

"Iran's Medical Council warns of rising emigration of pediatric heart specialists and surgeons, leaving hundreds of sick children without care, sparking concerns. ..."
