Wirklich!

Oder die Demagogie der Nachhaltigkeit! Wird wieder mal deutscher blinder Gehorsam erwartet!

Federal Payroll Down $1.9 Billion, Civilian Headcount Down More than 50,000 in 2025

Good news! Bravo! It appears President Trump is shrinking the bloated federal government! Keep up the good work!

Unfortunately, the article omitted to show more history like e.g. the last 10 years or since the beginning of the 21st century.

"... We found that headcount, not including the U.S. Postal Service or Department of War, was reduced by a bit more than 50,000 from 2024 to 2025. That came with nearly $2 billion in savings on total salaries. ..."

Abolish the National Institutes of Health (NIH)

Food for thought!

"In an op-ed at The Washington Post, Senior Fellow Scott Atlas echoes Milton Friedman in arguing that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) “should be abolished.” While the NIH has funded some valuable scientific research, Atlas says, “it’s also a governmental monopoly with a roughly $48 billion budget subject to political influence, fiscal abuse and suppression of scientific dissent—one that has diverted billions from actual science to academic operations, racial set-asides and ideological mandates.” Atlas reviews various examples where politicians of both major parties have steered research funding and agendas toward various preferred areas. “Abolishing the NIH would not create a funding vacuum,” Atlas maintains, noting that the private sector already “funds 78 percent of US biomedical research and development.” What’s more, Atlas says, much of the private investment flowing into artificial intelligence is already “funding the overwhelming majority of innovative medical devices and building the AI revolution in biomedicine.” Atlas concludes that doing away with the NIH would not represent a cut to science but rather “is a case for science itself.”"

"In 1980, economist Milton Friedman said the National Institutes of Health should be abolished. Friedman said the same about another government research agency, the National Science Foundation. And when he was asked what the NSF should be replaced with, he replied: “Nothing.” ..."

French think tank IREF: Against All Rationality, the EU Persists in its Net-Zero Delusion

Net Zero is indeed a terrible demagoguery by proponents of big government socialism! Net zero is absurd!

"The European Commission has approved a new step towards its 2050 ‘net-zero’ objective, targeting a 90% reduction in net greenhouse gas emissions relative to 1990 levels by 2040. But a recent report by the French think tank IREF (Institut de Recherches Économiques et Fiscales) delivers a sobering reality check. ...

A recent report by the French think tank IREF (Institut de Recherches Économiques et Fiscales) delivers a sobering reality check. Simple arithmetic already raises red flags. EU emissions fell by 37% over the 33 years from 1990 to today. Achieving an additional 68% reduction in just 17 years would require nearly tripling the pace of decarbonization. If this acceleration fails, the economic consequences of such a quick drop in emissions would be severe. ..."

Canada: Examining the Growth of Public Sector Employment Since 2015

Bad news! Big and bigger government in Canada! Headed in the wrong direction!

"...
  • The public sector in Canada added 950,000 jobs between 2015 and 2024. This accounted for roughly 30% of all employment gains.
  • Public sector employment as a share of total employment has grown from 19.7% in 2015 to 21.5% in 2024. Moreover, public sector employment grew at an annual average rate of 2.7% per year, while private sector employment grew at 1.7% per year.

Arizona, United Kingdom and other Western jurisdictions force porn websites to require age verification of visitors

How stupid is that! How many adults will be pissed off by that! Busybody legislators at their worst!

When child protection laws goes overboard!

Where does this end? Will also Google search have to ask users for age verification when they Google for porn pix?

Is it not primarily the responsibility of parents to prevent their young children from accessing such sites (and other age inappropriate sites)?

Will not businesses provide child protection as well when demanded by parents?

Why do not e.g. devices used by children advertise/signal that a child is using this device?

Was is not one of the motivations to make pornography easier available in Western countries since the 1960s or so, because it prevents some sexual assaults etc. on women? What a retrograde development!

It appears by using e.g. a VPN (choosing a location in another country) one can easily circumvent these age verification procedures implemented by porn sites, but not without hassles.

Etwa Friedrich Merz?

Global plastic pollution treaty negotiations fail again as countries clash over production limits and chemical regulations

Good news! These top down solutions by Big Government are suspect anyway!

Alert: Plastophobia is a serious disorder. Please seek immediate medical help! (Caution: satire)

What about all the benefits of plastics in our lives? What are the substitutes?

"UN-led negotiations for a global treaty to tackle plastic pollution have again failed to reach an agreement. The latest meeting, held over the last 10 days in Geneva, was itself an extension of talks that have been going on for three years, and which had previously failed to agree the treaty text when the original deadline passed last December. ..."

What if universal rental assistance were implemented to deal with the housing crisis? Really!

Two nutty US professors call for socialist Big Government! They pretend and claim to bey "housing policy experts". Laughable!

What "housing crisis"? Pure propaganda and demagoguery!

If these two men were students of economics, they sure would receive a fail grade!

Why don't these two nutty professors not take a pay cut in support of needy tenants in their community instead of calling for socialist Big Government!

"Disclosure statement
Alex Schwartz has received funding from the Catherine and John D. MacArthur Foundation. Since 2019 he has served on New York City's Rent Guidelines Board. He has a relative who works for The Conversation.

Kirk McClure received funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and receives funding from the National Science Foundation."

The opening sentence is already pure demagoguery!
"If there’s one thing that U.S. politicians and activists from across the political spectrum can agree on, it’s that rents are far too high. ..."

More economic nonsense:
"... As experts on housing policy, we’re concerned about housing affordability. But our research shows little connection between a shortfall of housing and rental affordability problems. Even a massive infusion of new housing would not shrink housing costs enough to solve the crisis, as rents would likely remain out of reach for many households. ..."

"... However, there are already subsidies in place that ensure that some renters in the U.S. pay no more than 30% of their income on housing costs. The most effective [big government] solution, in our view, is to make these subsidies much more widely available. ..."

France to ban smoking in beaches, parks and outside schools. Really!

How stupid is this! Prohibition was tried before! What will be prohibited next?
It stinks (no pun intended)! Big Government! Government paternalism! This happened under President Macron! I think his old, rich wife needs to beat him more often!
I hope the French people will protest against this!
P.S. My maternal grandmother was a chain smoker, but I never smoked.

Ein neues deutsches Ungeheuer: Vergesellschaftungsrahmengesetz

Seit Bestehen der Bundesrepublik D waren Große Koalitionen von CDU und SPD immer gefürchtet! Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely!

Bipartisan US House of Representatives Vote Blocks California's 2035 Gas Car Ban

Good news! Bravo! We do not need Big Government and government prohibitions like that!

Lunacy of the government in California!

"The House of Representatives voted on Thursday to repeal a Biden-era Environmental Protection Agency waiver that allowed California to ban the selling of new gasoline-powered passenger vehicles by 2035.

The vote was 246-to-164, with 35 Democrats crossing party lines to join all 211 Republicans who were present in support of the joint resolution. The measure now goes to the Senate, where under the Congressional Review Act it would only need 51 votes, rather than the usual 60-vote filibuster-proof majority, to pass. ..."

Trump endorses plan to make daylight saving time permanent. Really!

Bad idea! Perhaps permanently shifting time by half an hour would be ok!

Big government one size fits all approaches sometimes really suck like this one! It should be left to the individual to choose whether to follow daylight savings time or not!

I am so glad we live in Arizona, which is permanently on Mountain Standard Time year round!

Why are Sweden and Europe Drowning in Fast Fashion Waste? with Palki Sharma

Don't you hate it when news anchors try to give you a moral lecture you and call for more big government paternalism. How often does Ms. Sharma change her dresses? How many dresses does she have in her wardrobe? She is not exactly like Mahatma Gandhi and his minimalist wardrobe!

Gender equality versus gender parity

Men watch out in the battle of the sexes! Some ideologues and demagogues are not satisfied with gender equality!

Gender parity is a terrible oxymoron and ideological term! It is a socialist central planners concoction! It calls for Big Government to impose e.g. gender quotas! Make no mistake gender parity is most likely also implied by leftist ideologies like DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion).

Forced gender parity or equal representation flies in the face of meritocracy!

There is absolutely no point in gender parity! Most often the term will not even be officially used to obfuscate and mislead the public about the real goals!

Worse, gender parity will almost exclusively be applied to selected, preferred professions that are clean, high paying jobs for women. Have you ever heard anyone claiming gender parity for coal miners or construction workers or meat packers or other jobs like it? Let men do the dirty jobs!

Why stop at gender parity? Matriarchy will replace patriarchy if men are too gentle.

Banks Are red flagging your transactions Because Congress Forces Them To

Food for thought! How serious is the issue? Are there better ways to identify financial transactions by criminals?

How much does it help to catch real criminals or their collaborators?

"The Bank Secrecy Act has morphed from its originally intended purpose into an overreaching surveillance tool. It inadvertently gathers information on Americans who make legitimate banking transactions and then secretively transmits those details as “red flags” to the federal government for review. It’s time for Congress to end this decades-old practice of forcing banks to act as informants by repealing this law and restoring financial privacy."

Caveat: I did not read the article!
