Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Declares “Total War” on West

Bad news going into 2026!

The Middle East and the world would be a much better place without the militaristic, belligerent theocracy and dictatorship in Iran in power since 1979!
When will the Iranian people finally get rid of being governed by an authoritarian regime since 1941.

"Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared his country is in a “total war” with the U.S., Israel, and Europe, claiming the conflict is worse than the devastating 1980s Iran-Iraq war.

The statement comes six months after Israel and the U.S. struck Iranian military and nuclear sites in a 12-day war that killed over 1,000 people, followed by UN sanctions orchestrated by France, Britain, and Germany over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet President Trump on Monday at Mar-a-Lago to pitch new strikes on Iran’s rebuilt ballistic missile facilities.

Pezeshkian warned that any renewed Israeli attack would face “a more resolute stance,” while claiming Iran’s military is now stronger than before June’s conflict."

How to end the Russo-Ukrainian War after 3 long years or since 2014 with almost 1.4 million war casualties on both sides

President Trump should call to form an military alliance of Western countries/free world (maybe a coalition of the willing, perhaps only comprised of volunteering soldiers, not NATO, but maybe Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Argentina, Israel, Mexico, Iceland) to send troops and weapons to defend the Ukraine not unlike World War II. An effort like this  was necessary to defeat Hitler. Perhaps we need another effort like this!

Europe should no longer quasi tolerate or downplay this war!

The key idea is for the Western military alliance to take a strong defensive position inside the Ukraine to e.g. prevent any further incursion into the Ukraine by Russian military forces and to highly secure the air space over the Ukraine. This would free up the Ukrainian military to go on the offensive and defeat the Russian invasion.

Since about mid-2024, the Ukraine has shown to the world how vulnerable the Russian interior is to drone warfare and sabotage against critical Russian infrastructure. Maybe Russia is only a paper bear with nuclear arms. If the Ukraine can keep up these very effective and successful attacks, we will find out how long Putin the Terrible survives in office.

Of course, Putin the Terrible has already issued already all kinds of threats e.g. should NATO get involved. Is he bluffing or posturing? Will the Russian elite and military go along if the war gets hotter and closer to home? Will North Korea or China still come to the aid of Russia? Maybe not!

There is already a legion etrangere (foreign legion) of Western volunteers activ defending the Ukraine against the military forces of Putin the Terrible! Unfortunately, there are only sparse news reports about it and the Ukraine is not exactly showcasing it. However, I suspect it is a significant number of Western volunteers. However, this is not enough!

Putin the Terrible is a ugly remnant of the Cold War and the former Soviet Union empire, a former KGB agent from east Germany, a wannabe Stalin successor.

It is clear by now that the lethargic, apathetic Russian Slav(e)s/Serfs are unwilling to get rid of their last tsar, the megalomaniac, warmonger and war criminal Putin the Terrible! Maybe more drastic war casualties of young Russian men will finally get the attention of an unwinnable war etc.

Given the large numbers of countries already involved on both sides of the war it is fair to say this war is already World War III. High time to end it!

It was a huge mistake by Western countries and specifically the lack of leadership by President Obama that the 2014 Russian invasion of Crimea was tolerated and not strongly opposed/repelled!

The Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons at the end of the Cold War for territorial integrity and security. Putin the Terrible could care less!

For any peace agreement with Russia, one sine qua non is for Russia to cede all occupied Ukrainian territories including Crimea.

Limited government or limited and small government?

With President Trump in his second term this question has garnered new relevance!

As a classical liberal I am all for limited and small government with term limits for all elected representatives!

Unfortunately, since World War II Western democracies have shown a strong tendencies to overregulate, to pass too many laws (and rarely if ever remove obsolete laws), and to concentrated too much power with the central government.

Unfortunately, term limits for elected representatives in Western democracies is a taboo. Only the US President is term limited (there might be some other exceptions).

Devolution of power in Western countries from central to lower levels of government is also long overdue reform!

Why the frequent, deliberate confusion of migration and immigration in the West

Again and again, immigrants are (deliberately) confused with migrants in the public discourse of Western societies! How come? It is very dishonest!

Why this presumed cover up of the (uncontrolled) invasion of immigrants?

What is behind this? Let's speculate for a moment:

  1. Migrants tend to go from place to place. They are often native to the region where they migrate to and from. They tend to be of the same culture as their neighbors etc.
While most immigrants to the West are often from a very different part and different culture of the world.
  2. Migrants tend to live temporary in one place. They tend to move on or back where they came from.
While most immigrants to the West want to stay permanently.
  3. Maybe migrants sounds less like individuals requiring significant amount of taxpayers money to accommodate their choice of residence and life.
While immigrants are often the opposite in this respect for sometimes years to come.
  4. Migrants tend not to be followed by members of their kin/family to settle down.
While immigrants will often try to bring their families with them as soon as possible thereby multiplying.
  5. When migrants have children, they tend to return to the place where their children are.
While the children of immigrants follow from the home countries of the immigrants or immigrants procreate where they settle down.

China is proving that nuclear power in the West is way more expensive than it needs to be

Recommendable! Food for thought!

The West (in particular Germany) certainly has excessively driven up the cost of nuclear power generation due to largely exaggerated fears of nuclear accidents, radioactivity etc.

On the other hand, communist China may have dangerously risked the life of their citizens by quickly building and operating about 58 nuclear power plants.

"... While the US and France have seen costs climb for decades thanks to overregulation, bespoke reactor designs, and fragmented supply chains, China has kept costs low by doing the opposite."

"Once again, the world is betting on nuclear power. The United States aims to quadruple its nuclear capacity by 2050, and more than 30 countries have pledged to triple global capacity by mid-century.
China has more than 30 reactors under construction and in planning, and
France has announced plans to build 14 reactors. Technology giants, including Amazon, Google and Microsoft, are also investing in nuclear to power their energy-hungry data centres  ...

A central challenge remains: can development be done at a manageable cost? Historically, the industry has faced a ‘cost escalation curse’. Building more nuclear reactors has led to higher, not lower, costs per watt, hampering their economic viability. ...

The cost of building nuclear power plants can soar because of a lack of standardized designs, rising material and labour costs, evolving regulations and technical complexities. ...

China’s success in curbing costs
Over the past two decades, China has been the main country to substantially and consistently expand its nuclear fleet, to 58 operating reactors in 2024.
Since 2022, the government has been approving around ten new reactors each year, putting China on track to surpass the United States and become the world’s largest holder of nuclear power capacity by 2030. ...

Our findings are striking. Whereas construction costs increased substantially between the 1960s and 2000s, by around tenfold in the United States and by nearly twofold in France, they had halved in China by the early 2000s and have remained largely stable since.

Various strategies were used to keep technological costs down, such as building larger plants for scale efficiency and leveraging accumulated experience. ...

The key driver of cost reduction has been China’s deliberate effort to build domestic capacity in civil nuclear power, which unfolded in three stages.

From the 1990s to 2005, China imported foreign reactors to deploy immediately while gradually producing simple, conventional components domestically and using Chinese firms for civil engineering and construction to reduce costs. At the same time, it began researching and developing its own reactor design based on French technology.

Between 2005 and 2010, these efforts to localize production advanced to include more complex, safety-critical components, such as reactor cores. China ramped up capacity, building about 30 reactors using two domestically developed model types. After the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan in 2011, China accelerated the adoption of advanced safety features by collaborating with partners from the United States and France, while developing its own advanced reactor models. ..."

Houthis Sink Two Ships in Just One Week with Palki Sharma

Why are Western and other countries tolerating this terrorism by the Houthis! These terrorists should be given one last warning before their annihilation, if they continue to attack any ships.

President Trump shifts the burden of defense spending in Western countries and focus more on the Pacific, Africa, and Latin America

It has been well known for at least the past six decades that Western countries (incl. Japan/Australia/New Zealand, but in particular European countries) have spent too little on their militaries. Essentially, these countries left most of the burden to the US to provide a credible security umbrella and deterrent. This has been a long simmering bone of contention between the US versus other Western countries.

President Trump is right to demand change and more commitment by other Western countries. For as long as Putin the Terrible is still in power and China does not reduce its hegemonic posture, the West has little choice, but to respond.

In addition, the US needs to focus more on the Pacific region, Latin America and Africa to counter China compared to the North Atlantic region. Thus, e.g. European countries need to do more about defending Greenland and the Arctic region as the Arctic region becomes more navigable thanks to global warming. Hint: The US offered to buy/annex Greenland.

China targets Canada's election—and may be targeting Australia's

How about other Western countries? How severe is the overtly and covertly interference?

How naive are Western countries when it comes to election interference by China?

"Following Canadian authorities’ discovery of a Chinese information operation targeting their country’s election, Australians, too, should beware such risks.

In fact, there are already signs that Beijing is interfering in campaigning for the Australian election to be held on 3 May.

In Canada, China evidently prefers the Liberal government of Prime Minister Mark Carney to the Conservative opposition.

In Australia, we are seeing messaging against Opposition Leader Peter Dutton—suggesting that Beijing wants the Labor government of Anthony Albanese to be re-elected.

The Australian Secret Intelligence Organisation and the Australian Electoral Commission are cooperating to guard against China’s now well established habit of trying to shape foreign elections. ...

For Australian voters, especially those consuming media in languages other than English, the information environment is crowded and contested. Overtly, there are foreign official state channels (communications by foreign governments) and state-controlled outlets (those funded and editorially controlled by foreign states).

Covertly, there are attributed and non-attributed channels. Attributed channels operate under foreign state oversight without publicly disclosing affiliation. Non-attributed channels aren’t directly linked to foreign states, but are nonetheless aligned. The interwoven and reinforcing nature of these channels is part of the cause for concern, particularly as they operate outside regulatory or journalistic oversight. ..."

The rise of totalitarianism in Western countries

It is a very disturbing trend! The many totalitarians/authoritarians/extremists in Western societies are all working incessantly hard to destroy individual liberty!

Emergency powers are en vogue again in Western countries similar to what happend when Nazis took power in Germany. Dismiss or ignore the parallels at your own peril!

More and more emergency powers are used to circumvent the protections of liberty in Western countries to dictate and change our way of life in support of some absurd ideology/superstition or in the name of safety or extremely exaggerated environmental hazards. Indoctrination, propaganda and demagoguery are rampant!

How much do current ideological agendas like DEI, LGBTQ etc. etc. serve to cover up or distract from noticing this trend? There is never a shortage of useful idiots or opportunists!

The actually fairly harmless Covid-19 pandemic (except for very elderly and immunocompromised individuals) was abused for very drastic restrictions of individual liberty and these restrictions lasted for way too long than was justified! Government paternalism gone mad or was it an exercise/demonstration how far emergency powers can be taken! I have blogged here extensively about this subject (label: coronavirus).

Fossil fuel powered vehicles are to be banned beginning from a certain year under the pretext of the gigantic Global Warming/Climate Change scam/scandal (label: Global Warming Hoax Climate Change Religion)!

Or how about killing large numbers of livestock to prevent Global Warming! Or bans on meat eating etc.! Absurd and irrational!

Then there is the recent and intense controversy over what is being taught to our children in public schools! Totalitarians/authoritarians/extremists can not resist and love to indoctrinate children as much as is possible!

The European Union (except for the UK) is becoming more and more like a hegemon internally and externally with highly centralized powers (label: European Union (EU))! The drive to make the EU into a global superpower is seriously misguided! Federalism is gravely suffering! The richness and variety of history, culture and societies of the many EU member countries is vanishing or suppressed.

And so on!

Wake up liberty minded citizens!

A need for laws to prescribe what constitutes transgender

I am not an expert on matters related to transgender. As a classical liberal here is my statement on the subject.

I am afraid transgender is an idea whose time has come. Transgender will most likely not fade away or become a footnote in history anytime soon. If history is any guide, we have tried to ignore homosexuality for a long time. We may need to start to deal with transgender in Western countries.

Perhaps, some Western countries have already passed common sense laws to define transgender. I am personally not aware of any such legislation. However, such laws could serve as a prototype or model.

Not to pass any transgender laws e.g. to avoid giving transgender any legitimacy or to hope transgender is only transient is probably not an option. It will probably only make things worse or awkward!

Has an individual legitimately transgendered when this individual declares to be transgender or are certain requirements beyond mere declaration to be met? What are these requirements?

At what age can a human being choose to transgender? At any age? What about parental consent?

What is transgender treatment (also euphemistically called care) and who pays for it?

Sickly 89-year-old Senator Dianne Feinstein wheeled into U.S. Senate, asks, 'Where am I going?'

Beware of the evolving gerontocracy in Western countries!

She has been a U.S. Senator since 1992!!! Before that, she was the mayor of San Francisco for about 10 years.

It is the great responsibility and duty of all elected politicians to know when it is time to quit! They owe it to all of their voters and other citizens!

The world is already watching the spectacle of a senile and demented 46th President, who is in charge of e.g. the nuclear weapons arsenal of the U.S.

Term limits might be one solution! Or how about annual physical and mental checkups after a certain age?

America and other Western countries ought to Opt Out Of The World Health Organization’s Global Medical Tyranny

Food for thought! The obsession with globalism is detrimental! Countries are not equal!

There is little doubt that so called international organisations like the WHO supposedly representing all of humanity have been perverted or instrumentalized!

Do countries like China, Russia, or North Korea care about the WHO? No they don't unless it serves their purpose e.g. to undermine Westen countries!

I personally also have come to the conclusion that Western countries should foremost have their own organisations! Then Western countries can decide how to engage on a global scale.

"The experts could hide behind international law as they advocate economy-crushing lockdowns and forced vaccinations.
Elon Musk tweeted that “Countries should not cede authority to WHO,” and conservatives have joined him in sounding the alarm about proposed legal changes to the World Health Organization and its International Health Regulations (IHR). ...
First, proposed changes to the International Health Regulations would convert recommendations into requirements. In May of 2024, 196 U.N. member nations will vote on the changes to the IHRs, with a simple majority required to approve them. ...
Second, the new WHO pandemic treaty, also up for a vote in the U.N. in May 2024, would represent another assault on U.S. sovereignty and thus the self-governance of the American people. ..."

The Israel Defense Force's mixed-gender unit that took down a Jericho terrorist cell

I think, the West ought to learn from Israel about women soldiers!

Western countries like to show off female ministers of defense (banana republic Germany even had three in a role), but there is still a very strange understanding that only males need to serve!

There is no real gender equality if women (transgender males) do not do military service (voluntarily or draft)! E.g. Western feminists like to shirk military service for decades! Let men do the dirty work!

The IDF's mixed-gender unit that took down a Jericho terrorist cell - The Jerusalem Post IDF soldiers told The Jerusalem Post of how they accidentally stumbled on the terror cell, took fire and survived the face-to-face gunfight from just centimeters away.

A very long-term and unhealthy trend in Western countries: More people want to or are found have some disease

A very unhealthy long-term trend: The medical profession and its enablers never get tired to find more patients, new diseases etc.. More $$$, more medical professionals, more research funding, more and better equipment ...

Corresponding to this trend: More people (non medical professionals) see advantages in being diagnosed with some disease be it government or insurance monetary or other benefits (e.g. disabled parking spots) or to seek attention, care, they feel special etc. E.g. basically every job application in the U.S. now requires to answer questions about the health of the job seeker. Having a disease has almost become desirable.

Are there still healthy people left? Or are they not now transgender, non-binary etc.

Caution: Satire

The Chinese Spy balloon is the Soviet Union Sputnik shock of 1957 revisited

Strange, how history sometimes seems to repeat itself! Or was it intentional?

In 1957, it was the former Soviet Union that got its message across with a far superior technology the West could not rival at the time! This time? A very ancient and once very advanced civilization used a high tech balloon!

There are many questions about the Chinese balloon! E.g. why was it detected or reported so late? This balloon should have been monitored from the moment it was launched and its track should have been closely followed!

With a senile and demented 46th President no wonder this happened!
