U.S. National Debt Reaches $39.4 Trillion

Just a reminder! This is unsustainable! The current debt/GDP ratio is about 123%!

Will President Trump do something about it? He should!

Nominal GDP for 2026 is estimated at $31.866 trillion.

"The Joint Economic Committee (JEC) released its July 2026 Monthly Debt Update, reporting that the total gross national debt reached $39.38 trillion as of July 3, 2026.

Debt held by the public totaled $31.68 trillion, while intergovernmental debt stood at $7.71 trillion.

According to the JEC, the nation’s debt has risen by $2.81 trillion over the past year and by $10.90 trillion over the past five years.

During the previous 12 months, the debt increased at an average pace of $7.71 billion per day, $321.15 million per hour, $5.35 million per minute, or $89,208.39 per second.

The annual increase equates to $8,204.76 per person and $20,814.36 per household, while total gross national debt now amounts to $115,188 per person and $292,217 per household. ..."

The Biggest Threat to the U.S.? Unsustainable government budget deficits and debt!

Very recommendable!
The fiscal irresponsibility of the U.S. Congress and the U.S. President have reached a critical level! The U.S. federal debt to GDP ratio has reached over 120% that is higher than basically all member states of the OECD.
The interest payments are already eating up the federal budget!
Living beyond the means is possible for some time, but not for very long!

None other than George Washington already warned the young United States:

U.S. National Debt now at over $31 trillion or over 125% of GDP

You wonder about inflation? Excessive government spending is one of the major driving forces of inflation in history!

This is reckless and irresponsible government spending! Too many politicians think money grows on trees!

Clearly, the upward trajectory/trend of U.S. national debt since the early 2000s is unsustainable!

High time to return to e.g. balanced budget requirement and paying down government debt!

Breitbart: The ultra high Biden Budget Deficits. Deficit Hawks to the rescue!

Recommendable! The insanity and unsoundness of the latest federal budget proposal by the cognitively impaired 46th president is inescapable!
Yes, where are today's deficit hawks? We urgently need them back!

"There was once a species of raptor in Washington, D.C., known as the Deficit Hawk. These sharp-eyed creatures were known for decrying the budget deficits even as they became perennial features of the federal government's budget. They insisted, often to the loud applause of the mainstream media, that spending more than a government collects in taxes is unsustainable and the path to ruin. Concern over the size of the deficit was one of the fuels that sustained the Tea Party and Capitol Hill Republicans in the Obama years. ...
The Deficit Hawks have largely gone extinct, although there are reports that a few still live in captivity in the U.S. Senate and the Center for a Responsible Budget. ...
But the presentation of President Biden's budget on Friday was a reminder that the Deficit Hawks filled an important niche in the ecology of the nation's capital. Biden's budget proposes to keep budget deficits above five percent of gross domestic product through 2026, two years after his term is scheduled to end. That would make Scranton's favorite son the first president never to preside over a budget deficit below five percent of GDP. Ronald Reagan had a single year, as did George Bush. Barack Obama had a few on the heels of the financial crisis. Trump had one, last year, as the country was hurled into crisis by the pandemic. Before that, you have to go all the way back to FDR to find years of consecutive deficits that high in relation to the size of the economy."
