Henry Kissinger: China pays highest tribute as President Xi Jinping sends condolences on passing of ‘old friend’
R.I.P. Quite a tribute by the Communist Party of China!
"... “Dr Henry Kissinger was a world-renowned strategist, as well as an old friend and good friend of the Chinese people,” Xinhua’s readout of Xi’s message read.
“He made it his lifelong pursuit to promote the development of China-US relations and enhance the friendship between the two peoples. Kissinger’s name will forever be associated with China-US relations,” he added."

Nachruf auf Henry Kissinger - Ein Glücksfall für Deutschland
Empfehlenswert! R.I.P.
Image of the day
R.I.P. Was Kissinger laughing because the German chancellor Helmut Schmidt had troubles lightening up his pipe? 😊

What is Henry Kissinger Doing in China? with Palki Sharma
Recommendable! At least Palki Sharma picked up this very interesting and unusual visit. I blogged here a day ago about his visit to China. I think, Palki Sharma was not quite fair to this famous former U.S. Secretary of State.

US diplomatic veteran Henry Kissinger visits Beijing ‘as a friend of China’
This seems to be highly unusual and alerting! The 100 year old Henry Kissinger visits China again at this critical time of heightened tensions! One of the smartest and most consequential former US. Secretary of State since 1945.
Unfortunately, Google search totally fails to find out the last time he visited China! So much for AI!

How to avoid another world war by Henry Kissinger
Recommendable! I did not have the time to read his whole opinion piece!
Henry Kissinger [99 years old], the long time doyen or grand master of foreign policy, sounds reasonable and makes sense!
"... Does the world today find itself at a comparable turning point [World War I around August 1916] in Ukraine as winter imposes a pause on large-scale military operations there? I have repeatedly expressed my support for the allied military effort to thwart Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. But the time is approaching to build on the strategic changes which have already been accomplished and to integrate them into a new structure towards achieving peace through negotiation. Ukraine has become a major state in Central Europe for the first time in modern history. Aided by its allies and inspired by its President, Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine has stymied the Russian conventional forces which have been overhanging Europe since the second world war. And the international system – including China – is opposing Russia’s threat or use of its nuclear weapons.
This process has mooted the original issues regarding Ukraine’s membership in Nato. Ukraine has acquired one of the largest and most effective land armies in Europe, equipped by America and its allies. A peace process should link Ukraine to Nato, however expressed. The alternative of neutrality is no longer meaningful, especially after Finland and Sweden joined Nato. This is why, last May, I recommended establishing a ceasefire line along the borders existing where the war started on 24 February. Russia would disgorge its conquests thence, but not the territory it occupied nearly a decade ago, including Crimea. That territory could be the subject of a negotiation after a ceasefire.
If the pre-war dividing line between Ukraine and Russia cannot be achieved by combat or by negotiation, recourse to the principle of self-determination could be explored. Internationally supervised referendums concerning self-determination could be applied to particularly divisive territories which have changed hands repeatedly over the centuries...."

In new interview, Henry Kissinger offers dire warning about US policy toward Russia and China
The 99 year old wise man is very justifiably concerned! Whatever you may think about Henry Kissinger, he is a smart cookie!
As I have said here before several times: We are living in dangerous times with the potential to trigger a World War III! E.g. the recent visits of Pelosi and other Members of the U.S. Congress to Taiwan were reckless provocations without any discernible political objective other than to be a political stunt in an important election year.
The fact that a demented and senile man is the current president of the U.S. does not help! That his administration is made up of many scary and incompetent secretaries etc. is another issue.
"In a newly published interview with the Wall Street Journal, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger warned of the dangers of the United States’ current policy toward Russia and China.
“I think that the current period has a great trouble defining a direction. It’s very responsive to the emotion of the moment,” Kissinger told the Wall Street Journal.
Kissinger, 99, served as secretary of state and national security adviser under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford and has held numerous foreign policy roles since. Kissinger has long been among the foremost advocates of realpolitik: a system of politics considered to be based on practical rather than moral or ideological considerations.
“We are at the edge of war with Russia and China on issues which we partly created, without any concept of how this is going to end or what it’s supposed to lead to,” Kissinger said, adding that the U.S. should not “accelerate the tensions and to create options.” ..."

Hong Kong Protest, US China Trade War & China’s Inevitable “Disintegrati...
Very recommendable! Did you know that Nixon had a Chinese girl friend about half his age before he visited China? Did you know that the communist Zhou Enlai called Chiang Kai-shek on the phone in Taiwan to find out what Kissinger was up to? Did you know a close consultant of Gorbachev became the first curator of the KGB archive and as his first step he made five copies of this entire archive and sent it to five different continents? According to Waldron, Kissinger made a huge foreign policy mistake to warm up to China!
