EU vs Poland: EU Court of Justice Challenges Poland's Constitutional Tribunal by declaring it not independent

This could be a very interesting and consequential legal case in the EU! At present, it seems to be another attempt by an EU body to take precedence or resort to overreaching over the constitution of an individual EU member country. A question of federalism versus centralism in the EU.

How central government in the US grew between 1950-2019 at the expense of state governments/federalism

Food for thought! A slowly growing Leviathan (Big Government) has undermined the federalism envisioned by the Founding Fathers and Mothers!

This issue of increasing central government in the US has been discussed now since at least the 1950s or so. Will President Trump together with the GOP be able to correct some of it?

"... how the federal government funds an ever-growing share of the activities of state and local governments, contrary to the concept of there being a sharp divide between the responsibilities of each level of government.

Between 1950 and 2019, federal spending on matters originally considered to be the responsibility of states and localities rose from about 2 percent of US GDP to 14 percent. He also says that Congress has refused to adequately adjust revenue during this time to make up for shouldering so much of the states’ fiscal burden. “Since the 1930s, the federal government has, in effect, chosen to take on additional responsibilities and has been persistently unwilling to finance them with tax revenues. Instead, it has financed them with debt,” ... this trend has significantly stressed the ability of the federal government to meet its fiscal obligations. ..."

‘Empire of Gender Secrecy Policies Is Going to Crumble’ After Trump's Department of Education Probe in California. Really!

Is this not a glaring contradiction or inconsistency by conservatives?

Does President Trump not want to abolish the US Department of Education?

What is it? More federalism in public education or continued federal meddling in state affairs?

"The Department of Education under President Donald Trump launched an investigation into the California Department of Education Thursday in a move that could prevent the Golden State bureaucracy from weaseling its way out of a key parental notification lawsuit. ..."

Devolution of power for liberty, peace and prosperity around the world

Food for thought! A brief philosophical speculation.

What if all countries of the world were dissolved and only municipal (metro, city, village) "states" existed? Unfortunately, some countries would not go along with this devolution.

Yes, it would need a lot of cooperation and coordination for large projects affecting multiple mini states to be realized.

How fast would these states adopt free trade and free movement of people etc. etc.

Are the hurdles really so large or even insurmountable that these hurdles, among other considerations, justified national states? Perhaps that was true and applied in the past, but current technology makes the prospect of much more federalism more realistic and sustainable!

Supreme Court Allows Biden Admin to Remove Texas Border Wire

Unfortunately, the following article does not provide any context or what the legal ramifications are involved here!

However, I suspect the U.S. Supreme Court in this narrow decision decided in favor of centralism versus federalism.

Why should any individual state have to tolerate when a senile, demented, and corrupt President fails to enforce the law and prevent massive illegal immigration across the southern border? It is actually surprising why Texas waited three years for the next presidential election to implement such measures!

"... The Department of Homeland Security asked the justices in an emergency application in early January to freeze the order, arguing the wire prevents agents from accessing “the very border they are charged with patrolling and the individuals they are charged with apprehending and inspecting.” ..."

Spain's 'Frankenstein Coalition' Puts Democracy at Risk. Really!

The ghost of the Caudillo Francisco Franco resurrected?

Why do ethnic minorities like the Basques or Catalans pose a serious threat to Spain's democracy? Were these minorities not brutally suppressed for decades by Franco. What is the situation of these minorities in Spain after Franco?

How does federalism work in contemporary Spain? Maybe not so well!

"... The problem lies in what type of coalition Sanchez put together.
There are three main objections to Sanchez’s government. First, let’s deal with the criticism of his coalition partners.
Sanchez crossed all manner of red lines by bringing into the coalition parties that openly advocate for the liquidation of constitutional Spain. ...
But the development that most troubled Spanish society was the pact with Bildu, the party that took the reins from the Basque terrorist group ETA. For Americans acquainted with the Irish situation, Bildu is the Spanish equivalent Sinn Fein. ...
So, in order to keep the power he craves, Sanchez this year incorporated a new partner: Junts Per Catalunya (Junts), or Together for Catalonia.
It’s yet another secessionist party, whose leader is a fugitive from Spanish justice and lives in Belgium, and whose support for Sanchez is based on a key precondition; namely, the dismantling of the rule of law in Spain.  ..."

Polnische Justizreform von 2019 verstösst gegen EU-Recht. Wirklich!

Latest European Union campaign: You are EU. Shocking!

Appalling! Disgusting! Dim witted! This is shameful environmentalism propaganda!

This EU website does not even bother to mention any dates or history or timeline etc. It is timeless! And it does not  provide background information!
So annoying! So pathetic!

The dangers of too much centralism in Europe become more visible and palpable by the day! Too much empire building!
The strength of Europe is federalism and variety!

When will the EU finally get rid of one of the vestiges of the awful German chancellor Merkel, i.e. Ursula von der Leyen?

In light of this, the Brexit makes so much more sense! Bravo and gratitude  to the British people!

By "Energy Independence" the EU almost exclusively means "renewable energy – made in Europe".

More: "Stand up for our values to protect ... the climate and the planet. ... 'You are EU' is an invitation for all Europeans ... building a better future with clean energy made in Europe. ... a statement that we can jointly move towards clean and homegrown energy. ..."

"solidarity is destiny" what a joke in this context! It is e.g. an insult to the Polish Solidarnosc movement!

"... we can prepare the world of tomorrow ..." What an arrogance! So much ignorance! Hope the rest of the world will say thanks, but not thanks!

A Century of Federal Spending, 1925-2025 in the U.S.

This expansion of federal government spending since about the year 2000 is totally unsustainable!

Not least this reckless and irresponsible federal spending  has fueled the current price inflation!

Government debt has gone through the roof! Interest payments on federal debt has picked up and is close to 5% of GDP or or above 25% of total federal government spending now.

When federalism morphs into centralism. Big Government grows and grows!

When federal government spending supplants state government spending and independence!

As this chart below clearly shows that from the mid 1970s  to about 2008 non-military federal spending stayed under 15% of GDP. One can even argue that permanent spending above 10% of GDP is very suspect!

Unfortunately, the chart below does not show the federal budget deficit! Quite an omission!

Trump vows to break up Department of Education, redistribute its functions to states

Not a bad idea! Beginning in the 20th century, government power was more and more concentrated in Washington DC at the expense of federalism! High time to reverse this unfortunate trend!

"... ""We studied it very closely and I was getting ready to do it, pull the trigger," he said. "The long-term goal, but now it's a short-term goal, of breaking up the federal Department of Education and redistributing its functions to the states." ..."

The legal definition of marriage in the U.S.

In my opinion, the legal definition of marriage should be left to the individual states and DC.

I am not sure why the Members of the U.S. Congress need to get involved other than to grab more power over We the People's lives! I am not an expert on the U.S. Constitution, but I assume this kind of legislation is actually unconstitutional! I think, this kind of legislation is grand standing for no good purpose!

What if e.g. the citizens of Utah vote for reestablishing polygamy and other questions?

"Forty-seven House Republicans voted Tuesday in support of a Democrat-backed bill to codify same-sex marriage into federal law.
The bill, dubbed the Respect for Marriage Act, passed the House of Representatives 267 to 157. All 220 Democrats voted in favor. Seven Republicans abstained.
The Respect for Marriage Act would formally repeal the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, which recognized marriage as “only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife.” The 1996 law was effectively invalidated by the Supreme Court’s 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, but it has remained on the books."

U.S. Supreme Court: West Virginia v. EPA

Without being very familiar with this case, I assume this is another win for more federalism and less federal government power!

Excessive or extreme environmentalism (e.g. Global Warming Hoax and Climate Change Religion) is not good for your health and your freedom! The demagogues will tell you it is about the Clean Air Act, when in fact it is about the federal government imposing so called renewable energy mandates without approval of the U.S. Congress or the individual states.

For the demented and senile 46th President it is another "West Virginia vs. EPA is another devastating decision that aims to take our country backwards". You can safely assume, the opposite is the case!

It appears the ruling addresses a dubious power grab measure by President Obama: "The case centers on the Clean Power Plan (CPP) proposed by the EPA in 2015 by the Obama administration."

Weniger Versailles, mehr Holstentor in der Europäischen Union

Empfehlenswert!

Urteil zu EZB-Anleihen: EU will Vertragsverletzung prüfen

Was kommt nach Brexit?

Prime Minister Theresa May Needs To Step Down ASAP

Posted: 4/8/2019  Updated: 7/15/2019

Update Of 7/15/2019

In the waning days of her premiership, Theresa May’s total incompetence and disastrous personality becomes so obvious again. President Trump had to dismiss the ambassador of the UK. The Prime Minister went so low as to criticize President Trump over certain tweets against left wing progressive Dimocratic Party Representatives.

Original Post

This endless, horrible drama about Brexit needs to end immediately. Enough is enough!

Theresa May falls far short of Maggie Thatcher. May is not up to the task!
The prime minister:
  1. Has obviously no viable vision nor any plans for post Brexit!
  2. Is begging in Brussels way too much and too often. It is so embarrassing!

For the UK it is high time to focus on the after Brexit!

I have predicted her incompetence/ineptitude here soon after she became prime minister:
