Roughly half of Arizonans need a permit for common projects like HVAC, roof, or water heater replacement, while others can do the same work without one, depending on location


Permit fees range from $200 to $600+ depending on jurisdiction, and in Pima County have tripled over 20 years


Among roughly 100,000 recently completed permits, about half were issued in four days or less, but 10% took more than a month, and the slowest 1% took more than 134 days


Jurisdictions using SolarAPP+ approved solar permits in about 6 days versus 17 days elsewhere, cutting total project time from 65 to 35 days; self-certification reduced project times by about 40 days (13%)


Phoenix reduced some approval times from months to just 24 hours; ...
