Unearthed Musical Masterpieces from the Southern Kingdoms of Ancient China (an exhibition)

This should be an interesting exhibition coming to Phoenix, Arizona soon!

"Opening November 6, MIM’s new special exhibition Unearthed Musical Masterpieces from the Southern Kingdoms of Ancient China invites you to experience the resounding splendor of long-buried musical treasures. Organized by MIM and the Hubei Provincial Museum under the guidance of the National Cultural Heritage Administration of China, this landmark exhibition explores one of the most sophisticated traditions of the ancient world and presents an unprecedented collection of more than 70 ancient musical instruments and associated objects, including 40 objects never before seen in the United States and 10 Grade One Cultural Relics—China’s highest designation for national treasures.

“These objects were among the finest treasures buried with rulers and nobility,” says Eddie Chia-Hao Hsu, curator for Asia and Oceania. “They are extraordinary expressions of the technical mastery and artistic imagination of the artisans who created them, reflecting the remarkable musical achievements of the southern kingdoms of ancient China.”"
