Since the downfall of the Soviet Union, the Communist Party of China has developed into a much more formidable foe than the former Soviet Union ever was!
The former Soviet Union was never an economic powerhouse and well integrated into the world economy like China is today!
The way China spreads its influence around the world is unmatched by most of what the former Soviet Union ever did.
The current dictator Xi Jinping is trying hard to become a dictator for life and thereby dismissing the reforms of the late and wise Deng Xiaoping. This dictator, very much unlike his predecessors, has transformed China into a global hegemon.
China's approach is based on e.g. The Art of War by Sun Tzu! Compared to that the approach of the former Soviet Union was rather crude or too stealthy.
However, there is hope that the ever docile people of China are slowly waking up to and realize being subjected to tyranny. A very slow process taking already over 50 years or more for this ancient, very high and cradle of civilization that has existed for more than two thousand years. Perhaps, higher living standards and more contact with people from Western and other countries will accelerate the process of reform.
