This is a great example where classical liberals and conservatives are on opposite sides!
The author of the article is a long time senior fellow and "vice president for foreign and defense policy studies" at the THF.
As long as there is any government mandated form of military draft/conscription applied to males it ought to apply to females as well. It is that simple! Otherwise gender equality is violated and gender discrimination is accepted with all its intended and attendant consequences.
