Guttmacher Institute: Long-Term Decline in US Abortions Reverses, Showing Rising Need for Abortion

There were 930,160 abortions in the United States in 2020 and a total of 3,605,201 birth. This translates into about 1 in 5 pregnancies terminated by abortion. That is a lot of abortions! Too many! Abortion should be rather a measure of a last resort, not of first choice!

I did not read the whole Guttmacher Institute's new report. However, it appears this report did not go into whether the recent rise in abortions had anything to do with the Covid-19 pandemic.

There is a still a serious issue with a lack of contraception in the U.S. Why?

For the progressive/regressive Guttmacher Institute the pending decision by the U.S. Supreme Court is only about "50 years of the Court’s own legal precedent upholding the constitutional right to abortion." What constitutional right? There is probably nothing about abortion in the U.S. Constitution. Since there is nothing in the U.S. Constitution, it is a reminder that federalism dominates. This subject is best left to the people of the individual states to decide!

Roe v. Wade was a terrible aberration and gave the U.S. one of the most liberal and unrestricted abortion rights in the Western world! No wonder it has caused 50 years of discontent! Many Western countries have found working and reasonable compromises as a society regarding abortion. Perhaps, on a state by state level, the U.S. can achieve something similar.

Long-Term Decline in US Abortions Reverses, Showing Rising Need for Abortion as Supreme Court Is Poised to Overturn Roe v. Wade | Guttmacher Institute: The long-term decline in abortions in the United States that started 30 years ago has reversed, according to new data from the Guttmacher Institute—underscoring that the need for abortion care in the United States is growing just as the US Supreme Court appears likely to overturn or gut Roe v. Wade. According to new findings from Guttmacher’s latest Abortion Provider
