I am surprised that my many news sources have actually reported fairly little about this major and possibly momentous initiative!
In the 21st century, Africa is surely going to be a major player on the world stage! I have little doubt about this positive development!
This was the first such summit since 2012! They say the Biden Administration is a continuation of the Obama Administration! 😊 I am not sure, I agree with the approach taken.
Money talks: The U.S. is committed to invest at least $55 billion over the next three years in Africa. Will the incoming, next U.S. Congress go along with this?
"... lend up to $21 billion through the International Monetary Fund for low and middle-income countries ..."
"... Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM): EXIM and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) are signing a $500 million Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand Diaspora commercial engagement across Africa ..."
The administration of the 46th President also wants to establish a New Diaspora Council. E.g. there are about two million African immigrants living in the U.S.
"Support for G20 Membership: The United States will support and work to realize greater and long overdue African representation in international institutions, including supporting the African Union to join the G20 as a permanent member."
As much as I criticize the phony, compromised, pathological Liar, senile and demented 46th President here on my blog, his administration sincerely appears to be laying the ground work for a new serious focus of American foreign policy and economic cooperation. Credit where credit's due!
Here are the official White House statements:
