Berlin's giant AquaDom hotel aquarium containing 1 million liters of water and 1,500 fish disintegrates

Is this just another sign how much Germany has become a banana republic? This AquaDom was only built in 2003 and modernized 2 years ago.

Was expensive energy to blame so the gigantic aquarium was not kept at its normal temperature? Others speculate it was material fatigue.
