Why is Latin America a quasi terra incognita on my blog

This is not for lack of trying! I have wondered myself quite a few times. I do not speak spanish. I don't think Latin America is a backwater region!

I try to report about Latin America as much as I can, but I don't seem to have found e.g. good news sources for Latin America. Perhaps, this is my oversight or ignorance.

My guesses for under reporting are:

1. That news or events in Latin America are not as much translated into english as those from other major geographic regions of the world.
2. Perhaps spanish is trying to compete with english as a lingua franca. Or spanish is seen as a lingua franca of its own sort of equal to english.
3. Perhaps, many news media outlets do not cover Latin America very well as other major geographic regions.
4. May I presume that Latin American news media do not report in english as much as news media from other countries.
5. Perhaps, countries and citizens in Latin America shy away from publicity for some reason.
6. Perhaps, countries and citizens of Latin America are generally more inwards looking.
