Amazon reached a $2.5 billion settlement with the FTC over allegations it duped customers into signing up for Prime and created a confusing cancellation process

"The e-commerce giant will pay a $1 billion civil penalty, the largest in FTC history, and create a $1.5 billion fund to pay back to consumers, according to court documents. It’ll also include a simpler way to cancel Prime. The FTC has said nearly 40 million consumers were affected. Amazon said that the resolution—days into a civil trial—allows it to move forward and focus on its business."
