North Sea gas production surges as UK ends Russian energy imports

Good news! The British are coming to their senses again!

"North Sea gas production has surged by more than a quarter in just six months as the UK raced to wean itself off Russian energy imports.
Domestic gas production in the first half of the year was 26pc higher – or 3.5bn cubic metres – than last year, enough to heat almost 3.5m homes for a year.
The ramping up of North Sea output comes as Britain looks to cut ties with the Kremlin’s energy sector and boost its energy security.
Figures released today by the Office for National Statistics confirmed fuel imports from Russia fell to zero in June for the first time since records began. ..."

"Britain's regulator on Wednesday approved Shell's (SHEL.L) revised plan to develop a North Sea natural gas field as the government seeks to boost domestic energy output following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

In a statement, Shell welcomed the decision and said it plans to move ahead with the development of the Jackdaw gas field which has the potential to produce 6.5% of Britain's gas output. ..."
