Inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) – primary immunodeficiencies that have a single genetic cause.
This is a group of over 550 rare conditions, caused by mutations in single genes. IEIs can lead to increased risk of infections, as well as inflammation, autoimmunity, allergy and in some cases, cancer. If left undiagnosed, they can lead to lifelong medical issues with potentially fatal implications. (Source)
