Good news! Right decision! Bravo!
In short and in hindsight, SARS-CoV-2/Covid-19 was not very dangerous in general especially not to children nor older adults, but very infectious and dangerous to immunocompromised individuals. Just a reminder: SARS-CoV-2 is a coronavirus similar to the cold virus.
China was not cooperating as it should have when Covid-19 started to spread beyond China. The (modified) virus originated most likely from a lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (a dual use research institution funded then e.g. even by the US for gain of function research).
