The U.S. after WW II war more aligned with Pakistan than with India. Did you know that the infamous U-2 spy plane took off from Pakistan before it was shot down by the Soviet Union in 1962? This was a major incident during the Cold War.
Then there is the Chinese takeover of Tibet during which apparently also lots of Tibetan Buddhist monks were killed.
India received advanced weapons like latest MiG jet fighters from the Soviet Union to fight China.
