This might only the beginning of a new round of global challenges to intellectual property rights!
There is little doubt that the current intellectual property rights (in particular copyrights) are excessive and are in need to be reformed. I have blogged about this subject several times over the years (see e.g. here).
Fewer and, more importantly, shorter duration intellectual property rights would be better e.g. for free market competition and human progress!
However, to eliminate or e.g. waive selectively intellectual property rights is not a solution!
Had the current intellectual property rights been successfully implemented and enforced while humans were still living in caves, we might be still living in caves (just a thought). 😄
