"A wall of white shipping containers in Kigali signals growing progress in Africa’s quest to achieve “vaccine independence.” Inside the containers is the first of many portable, modular vaccine factories that will one day span the continent.
The idea: BioNTech, which has spearheaded the project, aims to fit fully-functioning, high-tech labs into easy-to-transport-and-assemble containers. This would allow for quick setup and consistent manufacturing processes anywhere in the world.
