Let one of the largest Western hostage crisis unfold in Afghanistan

As of today, there are reports that the German government is already paying some 100 million Euros to the Taliban in exchange for German citizens left behind in Afghanistan. (Source) Does Germany act alone without other European countries, whose citizens are trapped as well? 

Given the demented and senile state of the 46th U.S. president, there is a good chance that Western countries will not even be able to coordinate their response should a hostage crisis unfold.

This is perhaps only the beginning!
