Of course, Putin the Terrible need to be warned against cyber attacks aimed at facilities or businesses in foreign countries coming out of Russia! However, this does not require a meeting in Geneva!
This is really bad news! Microsoft Academic has some strength and is superior in some respects to its competitors like Google Scholar or Semantic Scholar. I have used it very frequently during the past two years for my research of artificial intelligence, computer vision, machine learning, computational linguistics etc.

Unfortunately, Google Scholar has for several years refused automatic requests to retrieve information and it does not provide an API to do so! Very regrettable! I know, because my efforts to write a Python program to retrieve information has been blocked by Google Scholar!

Yesterday, I blogged here that U.S. national debt has reached about 128% of GDP. Thus government and corporate debt make up about 178% of GDP. This is way too high and unstainable!
Just imagine what a 1 percentage point increase in interest rates may have!

Somebody in the Dimocratic Party must have known that their presidential candidate is severely cognitively impaired. Ms. Kamala Harris would be one such person. It is hard to believe that the health of Mr. Biden only deteriorated after he was elected. How many knew and when did they know it? Did anybody in the Dimocratic Party question the mental ability of their candidate? Instead, they chose to covered up and conceal it from the world public!
NATO has served well as a collective defense organisation during the Cold War with the former Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc in the post WW II era.
However, it becomes more obvious in the 21st century that the threat to peace in the world has dramatically changed. E.g. one of the long time NATO members has been governed by a semi autocratic regime thanks to President Erdogan for almost 20 years, who appears to be actively trying to resurrect the Ottoman Empire. China, North Korea, Iran have become major challenges to peace around the world. Russia under Putin the Terrible is not much better than the former Soviet Union as the latest cyber attacks on U.S. companies attest.
NATO should be replaced by a new defense alliance treaty among the free countries of the world. E.g. Japan, Australia and New Zealand ought to be part of it. Why not even India? Perhaps, India is willing to reconsider its non alignment policy if an offer to join was made.
This new defense organisation should be strictly limited to defense unless all members or a qualified majority votes for an offensive action or out of area action. The new organisation ought to provide different levels of membership depending e.g. on commitment or obligations.
The short answer: The 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and similar provisions in many state constitutions, some of them even preceding the U.S. Constitution.
This amendment is also one of the most obvious reasons and one of the most easily to recognize for American Exceptionalism. Very few countries in the world have liberal gun laws like the United States!

I don't have all the details on this evolving story, however what We the people are witnessing is horrible! Western elites and so called experts have displayed some astounding ignorance and complicity in the SARS-CoV-2/Covid-19 global pandemic!
No doubt, the gain of function research regarding pathogens is an important research subject and not some humunculus or Frankenstein research. Sure it is dangerous and extra precautions need to be taken. We may learn a lot about pathogens this way and how to prevent or treat future diseases etc.
For the U.S. to institute a moratorium on such research in 2014 was extremely short sighted if not irrational. It appears it was never lifted or seriously modified for years. In Europe, similar restraints on this research were imposed. There was apparently no international agreement to govern this type of research!
For Anthony Fauci and his ilk to divert or redirect research funding in response to this moratorium for this kind of research to the now infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology was reckless at best. Did Mr. Fauci accept that this institute e.g. also conducts secret military research on behalf of the Communist Party of China? Worse, he and his ilk actively and repeatedly tried to cover their involvement up when the Covid-19 global pandemic spread! Mr. Fauci ought to be criminally indicted for that!
The fact that skin color has become such a huge, defining topic in the daily discourse of the United States and other Western countries in the early 21st century is shocking! It is the worst kind of demagoguery that humans can aspire to! Make no mistake, this kind of obsessive demagoguery often incites deadly violence!
The massive and well coordinated attempt to alienate and divide groups of people in our society based on obviously racist slogans like Black Lives Matter, white supremacy, critical race theory etc. is a very contemptible sign of our times!
In the U.S., this demagoguery is aimed at setting up white and black Americans against each other for e.g. mostly for gaining political power. This is even more regrettable and inexcusable since the integration of white and black Americans has made good and widespread progress in the past several decades (e.g. the rising number of mixed couples and mixed residential living, advances in professional careers and much more including President Obama). Who is behind these forces that are mightily attempting to revert social progress in the U.S.? Is it China, Russia, North Korea, Iran ...?
Anyone who fails to mention that racism has been a scourge of humanity for thousands of years and that racism has occurred in almost all societies in history no matter what the skin color is a dangerous demagogue!

As of 6/18/2021, I did not even realize I wrote this post during the so called Pride Month. A Pride Month, which which was first designated in 1995 used to be only a Pride Gay Day!
I call LGBTQ one of the most annoying fads of our time! This fad or zeitgeist has lasted for way too long! Every day we are inundated with celebrating the so incredible LGBTQ community! Intellectuals and the media are fawning and drooling over them as if it was the greatest thing ever!
I do not care about the sexual or gender preferences/identities/orientation etc. of my contemporaries. May they choose whatever they please! I wish them all a happy and meaningful life!
However, the rest of us (the vast majority) are made to believe that the members of this community are very special and gifted. We all should look up to these trailblazers and avantgarde or whatever they are! Look how chic and glamorous they are! In truth, they are just pompous and busybody!
Probably, there would be far fewer members in the LGBTQ community if there was not all this superficial and exaggerated attention given to them!
