I don't have the time to do more research on this subject.
However, the recent trend in European countries like Germany and France, where the government tries to enforce or subsidize increased use of heat pumps, is most likely dubious!!!
Where does the heat for the heat pump come from? I suspect the negative consequences far outweigh the benefits!!! Sucking up heat sounds good, but it means a cooler ambient environment/source.
I suspect it does not scale very well few installations to equipping the majority of households of a country.
