A banal banana - Art for art's sake

How can an artist increase his or her publicity? Tape a banana to the wall of an exhibition!

Trivial pursuit goes as art! What is art? How much are you willing to pay for it? Is it a collectible piece of art?

It may be just a banana taped to a wall, but Maurizio Cattelan’s “Comedian” art installation is intended to evoke everything from Charlie Chaplin’s comedy to global trade, NPR reports.
 
To Seoul art student Noh Huyn-soo, the piece (of fruit) was open to eat-erpretation. So, he ripped it from the wall and ate it.
 
Seeing the fruit as food could seem a bit literal… but nay, said Noh, the snacking stunt was art itself! 

Noh wasn’t charged damages and when told that someone had eaten his art (again), Cattelan was totally fine with it. ..."
