Lousy journalism coverage of the Chinese high altitude balloon

Journalists do not bother to ask pertinent questions or to do research anymore!

Simple questions like:

1. How long has it been known that the balloon was floating over the U.S.?
2. Where did the balloon originate from?
3. Were there previous events like this? When?
4. Were there similar balloons reported flying over other countries or continents?
5. What are the usual options or conventions to treat such an event?
6. And so on ...
