Equality is not the same as equity, but equity sort of suggests equality! Equity sounds good! However, equity is a vary amorphous and vague term like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It allows anyone to use it for propaganda and demagoguery.
While e.g. equality under the law is very well defined and has a long tradition. The legal definition of equity implies it is sort of a last resort remedy (pardon my pun).
Egality (especially social egalitarianism) is similar to one size fits all or the Procrustean bed! It is contrary to individual liberty, self determination, and individual uniqueness. Let's not confuse the famous French revolutionary motto "Liberté, égalité, fraternité" with the English egality.
Guess, why e.g. authoritarians love equity and egality!
