President Reagan on leniency towards criminals

I was just updating my 2014 blog post about President Reagan's greatest quote, when I discovered that leniency by judges and law enforcement  towards criminals was already well recognized by him as a serious problem for society.

As you may appreciate, this wrong headed social experiment has been going on now for over 40 years and longer. A definition of insanity goes: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results!

In prison, criminals can be provided with plenty of opportunities to improve their lives through learning, education, professional training and so on to reduce recidivism.

Perceived leniency on white collar criminals is no justification for leniency on other criminals!

Here are two of President Reagan quotes related to this subject:

Lenient judges are only lenient on crooks; they're very hard on society.”

"The scales of criminal justice are still tilted toward protecting the rights of criminals. I believe it's high time we restore a proper balance and start doing more to protect our law-abiding citizens"
