More evidence that the global SARS-CoV-2/Covid-19 pandemic was relatively harmless! Yes, very infectious, but not very dangerous to a large majority of the population!
This news also implies that children in the U.S. have reached herd immunity through natural immunity.
We have known since the beginning of the pandemic in early 2020 that children, usually a vulnerable group of the population, were not in danger. Despite that we have allowed children to be subjected like guinea pigs to mass vaccination is one of several of the biggest scandals of the Covid-19 pandemic! It was reckless and irresponsible!
This Nature new article is also a nice example for grossly and presumably intentionally misleading information (Lies, damned lies and statistics):
"... Studies suggest that the risk of severe disease is lower in children infected with Omicron than with Delta. One US study by Davis and Rong Xu, a data scientist who is also at Case Western Reserve University, looked at more than 650,000 children under five and found that their risk of getting severe disease during the Omicron wave was about one-third of that during the Delta wave, measured by emergency visits to hospital between November 2021 and January 2022."
Why do they not provide absolute case numbers here? How many of these 650,000 children actually had a severe disease? Perhaps, to cover up fact that the actual case numbers are low!!!
"Roughly two in every three children aged between one and four years old in the United States have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, according to a nationwide analysis. Infections in that age group increased more than in any other during the Omicron wave, which researchers say demonstrates the variant’s high transmissibility. ...
Researchers looked for COVID-19 antibodies in blood samples from more than 86,000 children under 18 years old — including some 6,100 children aged between one and four. In the youngest children, the number of infections more than doubled, from 33% to 68% between December 2021 and February 2022. ..."
From the paper:
"... among children, there have been over 12 million reported cases and 1,485 deaths as of April 12, 2022 ..."
Death rate of less than 0.01%. A quick reminder: During some of the worst plagues in history more than 50% of the population (rich & poor, young & old) died.
