Trump tweets from other government accounts after being banned — Twitter deletes them and restricts the accounts

Can you believe this is happening in the United States of America? I don't!

The tyranny of private corporations to arbitrarily silence or censor the voice of the President of the United States of America with whom they disagree!

You add to this the recent deranged calls for a second Impeachment of President Trump in his final days in office! Or the recent outrageous claims of mob rule incited by President Trump by the left and the right establishment!

These are dangerous and dark times in America! This sure is a low point of the Washington swamp and corporate America!

Is it 1776 again? Freedom from oppression?

Heritage Foundation President Kay C. James: Amid Chaos, Our Resilient Republic Endures

I think, the famous Heritage Foundation needs a new president. I was never impressed with Kay C. James. Her latest public comments/remarks on what happened on January 6, 2021 in Washington DC reveal her as pathetic!

As a former employee of the Heritage Foundation, I would bet that the previous and long time president of this foundation Ed Feulner would have found better words to describe what has happened.

Ms. Kay did not waste one word in her opening statements about the unprecedented and massive election integrity violations that came before! By far most of the protesters in Washington DC on that day were peaceful!

"Like many Americans, I watched in disbelief Wednesday as an angry mob stormed our U.S. Capitol. As members of Congress gathered to certify the electoral votes of the presidential election, a band of criminals decided to take matters into their own hands. As this horrible act is investigated, it will be determined exactly who they were, and they must be held accountable.

The consequences were tragic. Four people dead, others injured. Unanswered questions of how it happened. The democratic process and the peaceful transition of power, which makes American democracy the model for the world, thrown into chaos.  ...
Our fight with the left is over the issues plaguing America, and fight we will. We will use all the tools at our disposal, but we will always respect the rule of law. ..."

Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski: Facebook banning President Trump gives big tech the 'MOST POWER' — and now it 'can shut any of us up'

You rarely hear or read that supermodels make smart political remarks in public! Bravo Ms. Ratajkowski! She nailed it!

What the social media did to a U.S. President in office is incredible! That Mark Zuckerberg spent about $400 million of his money on influencing the November 2020 elections is very concerning (I blogged here about it)

Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski: Facebook banning President Trump gives big tech the 'MOST POWER' — and now it 'can shut any of us up' - TheBlaze

High time for a third party in the United States!

The November 3rd general elections in the United States and its aftermath have made it abundantly clear that the traditional two party system in the U.S. has failed tremendously!

One party has been very determined at all cost to attain power and it has drifted further to the far radical left, while the other one is weak, almost defeatist, and unrecognizable for what it stands!

For decades the conservative movement and more recently the Tea Party movement have tried hard to shape the Republican Party. However, their success was rather very limited. They have been resisted by incumbents, vested interests, and lifelong career politicians in the GOP.

A new third party should start afresh and be focused on a few guiding principles:

  1. Classical liberalism
  2. More individual freedom and individual responsibility
  3. More free market economy
  4. More federalism and less centralism
  5. SMALL and limited government
Perhaps this third party will never become a majority party in the U.S. Congress! However, if it gains enough votes it will be a potent power to prevent the other two parties from implementing stupid policies!

In Search of Beethoven - Documentary Beethoven Festival Online

Very recommendable, but very long! 2020 was his 250th anniversary of his birth. I am sure this documentary has some flaws, e.g. I do not remember it mentioned (or was it a fleeting mention) that the text for the 9th Symphony is based on Friedrich Schiller's Ode to Joy (quite an omission).

I will never vote again because of the November 3rd 2020 U.S. elections

Revised on 1/11/2021, 1/8/2021

That's it! I pledge not to vote again in any forthcoming U.S. elections. Unless something fundamentally changes in the political environment towards more individual freedom and small and limited government, I have no good reason to vote anymore. I am afraid, I will not be the only American citizen!

Way too many elected Republican Party representatives at the federal and state level have proven beyond any doubt to be COWARDS in response to the unprecedented, massive irregularities during the November 2020 elections especially in tight races in a few battleground states.

Perhaps the greatest disappointment and COWARD of all turned out to be Republican Vice President Mike Pence when he presided over the certification of the electoral votes on January 6-7, 2021. Sometimes in the course of history, the most important responsibility comes down to one man or woman to do the right thing. Mike Pence shirked his constitutional and moral obligations! He should have refused the certification of the electoral votes in favor of further investigations into the election irregularities!

That basically no significant elected Democratic Party representative came forward to support election recounts and audits is incredible! Such strict party discipline is typically common among authoritarian political parties! How many coup attempts did the Dimocrats try on President Trump during his four years in office?

The Founding Fathers and Mothers (Federalists & Anti- Federalists) were very disappointed again! This republic will not survive with politicians like this!

If there is one amendment missing in the U.S. Constitution then it is term limits amendment for all members of the U.S. Congress not only for the U.S. President. E.g. 12 years for the entire lifetime would be enough! I am so tired of lifelong career politicians!

In the meantime, I have come to the conclusion that it is high time for a third party in the United States (see my blog post here).

Then there is the Convention of States under Article V of the U.S. Constitution. Hopefully, this Convention of States might one day introduce important and missing amendments to the Constitution. It has been making slowly progress and perhaps given the November Election of 2020, its progess will accelerate now!

Elemente anders ordnen: Konkurrenz für das Periodensystem

Amazing stuff!

"... This work clarifies the physical meaning of Mendeleev numbers (MNs): the idea of MN was empirically proposed by Pettifor, but we show that MNs are a result of collapsing the most important atomic properties (size, electronegativity, etc.) into one number. This gives us a recipe to compute nonempirical MNs. We compare our proposed sequence of elements with alternative Mendeleev numbers using the data for hardness, magnetization, enthalpy of formation, and atomization energy. For an unbiased evaluation of the MNs, we compare clustering rates, and find that our nonempirical MNs achieve overall the best clustering of compounds with similar properties."

UPDATE: Shots fired at US Capitol; House and Senate chambers taken over by protesters; VP Pence evacuated

This is not good news at all! This is very counterproductive! Did the organizers of these protests not take precautions to prevent any of that?

It also begs the question whether those who entered the U.S. Congress building were really protesters or impostors/agent provocateurs?

OpenAI debuts DALL-E for generating images from text

Recommendable! Text to image synthesis! Multimodal machine learning is imminent!

"... Tests OpenAI shared today appear to demonstrate that DALL-E has the ability to manipulate and rearrange objects in generated imagery and also create things that don’t exist, like a cube with the texture of a porcupine or a cube of clouds. What is in a name: SARS?

I would argue that the virus behind the current pandemic, i.e. SARS-CoV-2, is a very consequential misnomer! Unfortunately, by choosing this name, this virus was automatically associated with the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) pandemic of 2003, which was much more deadlier than the current one (case fatality rate about 11%, see e.g. here, here).

This poor name choice has contributed significantly to the irrational hysteria and alarmism that we witness every day for the past 10 months or so! Or was this name intentionally chosen? Follow the money trail!

""A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" is a popular reference to William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, in which Juliet seems to argue that it does not matter that Romeo is from her family's rival house of Montague, that is, that he is named "Montague". The reference is often used to imply that the names of things do not affect what they really are." (Source)

Here is another relevant historical reference to the importance of naming:
"Confucius was asked what he would do if he was a governor. He said he would "rectify the names" to make words correspond to reality. The phrase has now become known as a doctrine of feudal Confucian designations and relationships, behaving accordingly to ensure social harmony. Without such accordance society would essentially crumble and "undertakings would not be completed."" This is known as the Rectification of names from the Analects of Confucius.

Viral mutations may cause another ‘very, very bad’ COVID-19 wave, scientists warn

Here is a beautiful example how the main stream science media try to constantly scare the hell out of us citizens! They have done it so many times since the Covid-19 pandemic started! It's almost pure alarmism and demagoguery! It is incredible! This pandemic is more hysteria than anything else and the science community helped to fuel it!

Just the name of the new SARS-CoV-2 strain: B.1.1.7 conjures up that dangerous aliens are invading planet earth! Why not call it just B117!

The simple fact is that this pandemic is overall fairly harmless! That some of the daily statistics about the pandemic are inflated (e.g. death total)! That politicians resorted to shotgun measures for the past 10 months instead of focusing on the vulnerable and so on!

"For COVID-19 researchers, the new year brings a strong sense of déjà vu. As in early 2020, the world is anxiously watching a virus spread in one country and trying to parse the risk for everyone else. This time it is not a completely new threat, but a rapidly spreading variant of SARS-CoV-2. In southeastern England, where the B.1.1.7 variant first caught scientists’ attention last month, it has quickly replaced other variants, and it may be the harbinger of a new, particularly perilous phase of the pandemic. ..."

President Trump: Hillary's is saying now why did the Dimocratic Party not do this for me in 2016

President Trump takes a swipe at Hillary Clinton suggesting she was fuming that the Dimocratic Party did not do enough election fraud for Hillary in 2016!

Because I am black retort

Sometimes in a situation, a black American person would say to you something like you are doing or saying this to me because I am black.

Retort: Are you saying that my skin color is white? Is something wrong with my skin color? When was the last time you read or watched the full speech of Martin Luther King Jr. I have a Dream of 1963😊

It is high time for someone to give a speech on black supremacy and black victimhood! I am afraid nobody has the courage to do that for fear of assassination!

Perhaps one of President Trump's greatest achievements

President Trump has exposed so many so called members of elite or or so called experts (journalists, scientists, academia, and intellectuals) as what they are utter fools, many of them repeatedly!

Their many ridiculous and absurd statements, in front of a camera or microphone or in writing, during his first term have been properly recognized as and fully deserved the term Trump Derangement Syndrome!

It was a tremendous joy to be a witness of that! The world is a stage and an audience, President Trump has not disappointed. His performance in this respect was world class! Politicians with such gifts and talents are very rare!

Object-based attention for spatio-temporal reasoning: Outperforming neuro-symbolic models with flexible distributed architectures

Recommendable! Another, very interesting paper by Alphabet/Google/Deepmind researchers.

"... These flexible biases allow our model to surpass the previous neuro-symbolic state-of-the-art using less than 60% of available labelled data. Together, these results refute the neuro-symbolic thesis laid out by previous work involving these datasets, and they provide evidence that neural networks can indeed learn to reason effectively about the causal, dynamic structure of physical events. ..."

To take off, flying vehicles first need places to land

Recommendable! Driving in 3 dimensions!

"... With more than 250 businesses [in the U.S. as of August 2020] planning to build, operate, or manufacture urban-air-mobility (UAM) vehicles, all at different stages of development, a growing assortment of industry players is working across the value chain to make this dream a reality. Enabled by vertical-takeoff and -landing (VTOL) systems, electric propulsion, and advanced flight-control capabilities, these vehicles could eventually reach price points rivaling today’s taxi services. The resulting flying vehicles will be energy efficient, quiet, environmentally friendly, and eventually pilotless. ...
Adding new transportation capacity in most cities is extremely expensive, especially if it involves tunneling for subways or bypasses. The cost of building a subway in a city can exceed $500 million per mile, for instance. ...
The physical infrastructure will be an important determinant for the size of the addressable market, since the only trips possible are between VTOL ports. If only a few ports are available, flying-vehicle transport could follow a pattern similar to that seen in today’s helicopter market, where the number of potential destinations is limited. For instance, helicopter trips in cities such as London and New York can only occur between major airports and select locations in city centers—the only locations with available ports. If leaders want to scale the UAM market and not face the limits seen with today’s helicopter transport, they must establish many more ports, as well as more routes among them. ..."

Ted Cruz leads GOP effort to refuse Electoral College certification, demands 'emergency audit' of results - TheBlaze

What took these hesitant and hiding 11 U.S. Senators (among them four newly elected ones) so freaking long! What have these other sitting GOP Senators are been waiting for the last 60 plus days since the November election!!!

Had GOP Senators stepped up to their constitutional and moral duties earlier, e.g. state legislators in battleground states would have already decertified their electors, more investigations/audits in battleground states would be going on and so on! This hesitation and cowardice by GOP U.S. Senators until now was stunning!

There are quite a few well known GOP Senators missing from the list!

The November 2020 election will be go down in history like no other election in living memory! The Dimocratic Party and possibly in conjunction with foreign powers have gone way too far with vote manipulations this time! It could not be concealed or plausibly denied anymore!

LHCb finds more matter-antimatter weirdness in B mesons

Recommendable! Amazing stuff!

"... Scientists on the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider study much more subtle differences between matter particles and their antimatter equivalents. A recent analysis allowed them to revisit an old mystery—an asymmetry between asymmetries. ...
Asymmetries are the reason we exist. CP violation—when mirror-image particles with equal and opposite charges do not have equal-and-opposite behavior—is the reason the universe was able to grow into more than the fizzing soup of particles that defined it after its birth 13 billion years ago. ...
studies particle collisions produced by the Large Hadron Collider. Parker and his colleagues are using these collisions to examine CP violation in B mesons, a phenomenon first observed ... in the early 2000s. Like kaons, B mesons contain a matter quark and an antimatter quark that oscillate between the two identities. LHCb scientists use their detector to capture the decay products of these flippant B mesons and reconstruct their final internal configurations. ...
While LHCb scientists saw a clear favoritism for one configuration in neutral B mesons, they also confirmed that the same favoritism does not exist for charged B mesons, an effect first seen at BaBar and Belle. LHCb’s result significantly strengthens this mysterious asymmetry of the asymmetries. ..."

Cheese Preservative Slows Oral Cancer Spread in Mice: Study

Good news! Cancer is history! Cheers to preservatives in Cheese! Were we not warned for decades about the dangers of preservatives in food?

Remember all the euthanized mice for this experiment RIP (I blogged here about that)! These animals pay the ultimate price for us!

"The last few decades, scientists have identified more than a dozen pathogens—from human papillomavirus to Helicobacter pylori—that contribute to the progression of cancers. In a study published today (October 1 [2020]) in PLOS Pathogens, researchers demonstrate the mechanism by which three oral bacteria found in cells of the gums promote oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tumor development and progression in mice. And they show that a bacteriocin, an antimicrobial peptide that bacteria produce, counters the effects of the oral bacteria and slows tumor growth. ..."

"Epidemiological studies reveal significant associations between periodontitis and oral cancer.  ... Previously, we showed that nisin, a bacteriocin and commonly used food preservative, reduced oral cancer tumorigenesis and extended the life expectancy in tumor-bearing mice. In addition, nisin has antimicrobial effects on key periodontal pathogens. Thus, the purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that key periodontal pathogens (Porphyromonas gingivalis, Treponema denticola, and Fusobacterium nucleatum) promote oral cancer via specific host-bacterial interactions, and that bacteriocin/nisin therapy may modulate these responses. ... Nisin inhibited these pathogen-mediated processes. ... Together, these data demonstrate that periodontal pathogens contribute to a highly aggressive cancer phenotype via crosstalk between TLR/MyD88 and integrin/FAK signaling. Nisin can modulate these pathogen-mediated effects, and thus has therapeutic potential as an antimicrobial and anti-tumorigenic agent."

"... As of 2016, nisin was the only bacteriocin generally recognized as safe by the FDA and was used as a food preservative in several countries." (Source)

China, the dominant coal fired power plant operator of the world, recolonizes Africa

Very recommendable! I quoted lots of passages from this great article! Why Joseph Biden picked this idiot John Kerry as his climate czar is remarkable! President Obama (the first African American president) also played a very unfortunate role when it comes to Africa!

"... As to China employing more Green technology and abiding by (much less strengthening) the Paris agreement, the evidence is at best spotty, at worst completely the opposite. President Trump pulled the United States out of Paris, but between January 2017 and May 2019 the US had shuttered 50 coal-fired power plants, with 51 more shutdowns announced, bringing the total shutdowns to 289 (330 once announced shutdowns also take place) since 2010, soon leaving under 200 still operating.
Meanwhile, as of 2019, China had 2,363 active coal-fired power plants and was building another 1,171 in the Middle Kingdom – plus hundreds more in Africa, Asia and elsewhere. ... that China now has modern pollutant-scrubbing technology on over 80% of its coal-fired power plants, but no scrubbers at any Chinese-built coal-fired power plants in Africa (or likely anywhere else) – and none anywhere that remove carbon dioxide. ...
China is building, planning or financing more than 300 coal plants, in places as widespread as Turkey, Egypt, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh and the Philippines. India, South Korea, Japan, South Africa and even Germany are also building hundreds of coal-fired power plants. ...
China has invested over $50 billion in building new coal plants overseas in recent years, and over a quarter of new coal plants outside the Middle Kingdom have some commitment or offer of funds from Chinese financial institutions ...
Communist Party leaders seek global military and economic power – and global control of electricity generation, raw materials extraction, and manufacturing of wind turbines, solar panels and battery modules they will sell to address the West’s obsession with the “manmade climate crisis” and “renewable, sustainable” energy. ...
A recent Global Warming Policy Foundation report lambasts environmentalists (like John Kerry) as “useful idiots” who “praise the scale of Chinese ambition on climate change, while paying lip service in criticizing China’s massive coal expansion.” It notes that China rarely honors its international agreements and has no intention of reducing fossil fuel consumption. ...
With 1.1 billion people, Sub-Saharan Africa remains the world’s poorest region, despite massive mineral resources and a young, energetic population with an affinity for entrepreneurship. ... Africa must industrialize, which means it must have affordable, reliable electricity, if it is to overcome poverty and disease, create jobs and discourage terrorism.
Unfortunately, outrageously, US, EU, UN and World Bank policies have stymied African energy resource development. ... US policies since the Obama era oppose Africans using the continent’s abundant coal and gas to fuel power plants, on the ground that carbon dioxide from fossil fuels might exacerbate climate change. ..."

Public Schools Are Losing Their Captive Audience of Children

Good news! The positive effects of a pandemic! Please teachers unions keep the public schools shut for longer! 😄 Long overdue to reduce government power and control over the schooling of our children!
Current technology makes it even easier to home school!

"... An estimated 3.3 percent of children were home schooled in 2016, up from 1.7 percent in 1999, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. That share roughly tripled this year to nine percent, in an Education Week survey. Gallup agrees, finding that 10 percent of children are now being home schooled. ...

New framework can train a robotic arm on 6 grasping tasks in less than an hour

Good news! I have not had time yet to read this new research paper by Pieter Abbeel and his collaborators, but Pieter Abbeel is a well known and highly cited researcher in the field.

Astronomers have found the edge of the Milky Way at last

Amazing stuff!

"... Astronomers have long known that the brightest part of the Milky Way, the pancake-shaped disk of stars that houses the sun, is some 120,000 light-years across. Beyond this stellar disk is a disk of gas. A vast halo of dark matter, presumably full of invisible particles, engulfs both disks and stretches far beyond them. But because the dark halo emits no light, its diameter is hard to measure. ...
To find the Milky Way’s edge, [researchers] conducted computer simulations of how giant galaxies like the Milky Way form. In particular, the scientists sought cases where two giant galaxies arose side by side, like the Milky Way and Andromeda, our nearest giant neighbor, because each galaxy’s gravity tugs on the other. The simulations showed that just beyond the edge of a giant galaxy’s dark halo, the velocities of small nearby galaxies drop sharply. ..."

Why Is There a Shortage in Public Restrooms?

Recommendable! When Big Government intervenes ...

We are often told by ideologues, politicians and economists about market failures and why we need government to intervene. However, most so called market failures are at closer inspection actually government failures!

"... This shortage wasn’t always the case. City restrooms used to be safe, clean and widely-available in America, and still are across the world. But now they’re rare here, and expensive and difficult to run where they exist. The difference has been the altered incentive structure towards restroom provision – which caused scarcity. ...
publicly-available restrooms used to be common in the U.S. because they were for-pay. In the early 1900s, they popped up along railroads and then spread to the nation’s airports, bus stations, and highway rest stops. They were also common in busy urban commercial districts, often provided by the company Nik-O-Lok. By 1970, America had over 50,000 for-pay toilets. ...
Several separate interests began dismantling this business model in the 1970s. One was the feminist movement, ...
Another was the American Restroom Association, a group that still exists to call for legislation that supposedly improves restroom design and availability. Third, was the Committee to End Pay Toilets in America (CEPTIA), a group of teenagers who got tired of paying to use restrooms. In 1970, they launched a grassroots crusade against for-pay toilets, under the rubric of human rights ...
This pressure was surprisingly effective, and states began passing legislation to ban for-pay restrooms. By 1980, almost none existed. ..."
