Who is an African American? Maybe only recent first generation immigrants from Africa?
Are black Americans considered to be African Americans as this program may probably implies? That would certainly be wrong!
Do we need a PhD program for these selected immigrants at the end of the first quarter of the 21st century? I doubt it! Did Columbia University ever have a study program for let's say Irish or Italian immigrants?
I would also say the African Diaspora is a very different subject from African Americans that should be separated.
So what is this program actually for? To foment and perpetuate some ideology? Perhaps so!
