Why do we vaccinate children now against Covid-19?

Are children not one of the least affected groups in society by the SARS-CoV-2 virus? How many children have died from Covid-19? Should these vaccination not be only reserved for vulnerable children with e.g. compromised immune systems etc.?

I don't think it makes much sense to generally vaccinate all children!

On May 12, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommended the Pfizer vaccine for adolescents aged 12 to 15. The vote came two days after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted emergency use authorization of this vaccine for adolescents. ..."

Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine recommended for adolescents by CDC committee Focus now turns to clinical trials testing COVID-19 vaccines in younger kids
