I am afraid, VDH (age 71) is getting old and perhaps senile too! He has become an apologist for Putin the Terrible!
His argument is preposterous! It is so obviously wrong that I don't even really bother to comment on it (my blog posts regarding the Russo-Ukrainian War is my refutation).
Putin the Terrible is a former KGB agent trying to restore the former Soviet Union by military force attacking a Western ally, i.e. the Ukraine. Is that what VDH meant by his reference to the Cold War?
E.g. the US did not use the Ukraine as a proxy, you fool!
